This board gets a lot of traffic for the off-season.

The RMAC board has been on furlough since February.

I'm really looking forward to the football season, WOU has a lot of talent coming back and I think they'll contend for a league title.

In a perfect world, CWU and WOU have a battle for the ages just like this year for the conference title. The result of that game is where Tim and I will differ.

Nah. It used to be buzzing around here during off-season. Now it's a country cemetery!

Watching the slow death of D2 is sad!

I think D2 is good in Texas adding Texas Wesleyan and Texas AM Texarkana.

The main issue is the death of message boards like this and more peeps just going to Facebook, YouTube, and X.

You can find peeps (still just a few) talking Sul Ross football on Social Media sites but peeps born after this site was created arent going to come here.

While last year's contest was a heart breaker for me, it was one of the better football games I've ever seen. Lots of excitement. Not sure on CWU, but WOU should have another excellent team.

I'm glad the talking head stuff is on YouTube to somewhat keep up with the times. At least the info and main site can stay relevant that way.

DII football is absolutely dying a slow death. Sooner than later Angelo, UTPB, and probably WT will move to FCS. Other programs around the country will continue to move. I suspect DII will remain fairly strong in the great lakes and PA.

All college football is slowly dying accept for the Bigs. And even many of th9se are not pulling what they did 10 years ago.

As far as facebook, etc...people born after D2 messageboard was born are not interested in talking about DII football on social media.

The young generations are on youtube the most...but NOT talking DII football. Followed by tik tok, snap chat, and Instagram. Facebook is for their parents and grandparents....7070707 FACTS.

I agree with Pops but I think we need to reflect on what small college football has always been and it's never been in the media spotlight. Getting any form of the media to follow some pretty good small college teams in the Northwest for decades has been like pulling teeth. I think fans need to be pleased with having a competitive team that attracts a lot of fans in the local town and region and not worry about trying to compete with the Michigan's or Florida's of the world.

The NCAA is never going to pump up division 2, neither is the media and I don't know about all the social media, I don't think so. But I saw some great games last fall at Western Oregon. The stands were full and people had a lot of fun. The Permian Basin win was epic and sadly so was the Central Washington loss. Those games really stick out in my mind, however as they were competitive and a lot of local players are playing for Western Oregon.

On senior day, 25 Western Oregon football players were introduced and I believe all of them were graduating. I know that's not a big thing in division 1 professional sports these days but to me it's a big deal. To me all those things make division 2 Division 3 and NAIA interesting and worth following games. Is tick schlock or facedork following it? No. Don't care.

I agree with most of your post.

The D2 you tube football show the D2 guys run during the season gets a lot of traffic especially on Sundays.

The more I think about things, the more I think WT would likely go D3 before they go FCS especially with the current president.

BuffaloChip might provide more insight but hard to imagine a lot of younger willing donors out there with the lack of success WT has had the last 12 years.

I'm not sure what it's like in Texas, but in the Northwest, the only time small colleges received media coverage was when Linfield and Pacific Lutheran won NAIA and D3 national football championships. The Seattle Times doesn't and never has covered small college football; the Oregonian barely covers it, maybe a brief now and then. Yes, the coverage was better at smaller papers years ago, that has ended. But really, has the world changed that much? Was West Texas and Kingsville dominating the major media markets in Texas back in the day? Because they're not big on stupid social media doesn't mean the sport is dying. It means they're not getting the clicks that cat videos get. Who cares?

Small college football provides great athletic and educational opportunities for thousands of prep players across the country. I would rather support that than online buffoonery.
