I could be way off..but I don't see the NSIC folks putting up a big resistance to the idea, considering there's not much in the way of other options to get numbers right. I get a feel like the UJ thing is more likely to happen than not. But they'd need a 75% "yes" vote from the existing members to get in the league. If you're UJ..I think you'd wanna know roughly where you are at now with regard to that..unsure how exactly you'd get those answers tho.

**I have zero info about it, but I'm not entirely cancelling the idea of the MIAA having interest in plucking Wayne as they've indicated they want to expand. If so, Wayne makes sense for them and if WSC decided traveling South was nicer than North..that would right-size things and not really require a UJ thing for the NSIC. Just because teams in ND or SD need somewhere to go..that doesn't mean the NSIC is wanting new members just to have new members.

There's a fall league meeting next week and the UJ thing will come up. After that, if the NSIC/Presidents decide to make a site-visit to Jamestown to see facilities and all that....I would view that more as writing on the wall with a sharpie than with crayon.

        • I am not for expanding unless it is a worthwhile school, Jamestown is not. I would much rather have the 1 OOC game.

            • Keep in mind, there is real traction to the subdivision in D2 football.

OOC games will only work if you can guarantee that every team has a game scheduled or has their open date in the first week or two. If they can’t ensure everyone has the same number of games, then having another team in conference makes more sense

Subdivisions are the worst. Not a huge fan of FCS football. Basically playing for a trophy for the 134th best D1 football team. It's bizarre.

I'd like to see the entire division system overhauled - too many teams in D1 that don't need to be, and some in D2 that should be in D3. It's a mess.

I think it would take a while for to convince many NSIC worthwhile ND kids to go to UJ. The same way UMary & Minot struggle to recruit the higher end ND kids. Their roster construction is primarily made up of kids from all over the country with a few ND kids sprinkled in, which has proven to be a losing formula. There simply isn’t enough local talent from ND to supply all of these D2 teams a recruiting base

I don't think the NSIC would plan on having it mid season. This season and now next got screwed up thanks to UIU trying to sneak out at the last moment.

A major realignment is inevitable at this point. Power 4 schools as it is now aren't safe anymore. The breakaway is going to happen, and it is going to trickle down from there.

I've seen conflicting reports now, is it a 2/3, or 3/4 vote that gets them in? I'll have to do some digging

If this doesn't happen, then like I've said for years.

The major school break off (already happening)

What's left of d1 and some fcs form new division

What's left of fcs and top d2 form a new division

                              Etc.

                                Yeah, totally agree.

In practice, there really are 3 D1 Subdivisions - the P4, the rest of FBS, and the FCS. It's too clunky.
