I would think that is Morningside was interested they would already be in the NSIC. Obviously they prefer being where they are instead of jumping back to D2

Not gonna get St. Johns or Northwestern (or the like ) to jump either. They have their traditional rivalries and their history and don't want to play SMSU instead of Bethel. Not a criticism. But they like where they are at.

I *think* those bylaws were dropped. That's why both schools dropped football on the same day. Soon as the rules went away, so did football.

That being said, either those bylaws should never have gone away, or SCSU and UMC should have. I'm ready for them to leave.

I don't know much about them academically, but they seem to have a decent business program from what I've heard.

And those facilities tell me they either have money or a lot of alumni support, or both.

Jamestown has superior facilities over Mornington as the football field is city owned and used by the local hgh schools. Their BB arena is very old, but is a fun and intimate court. UJ is probably in better financial shape.

I did watch some of the UJ at VCSU game last night on the youtube just because it was a college football game to start this fall..and I thought the VCSU fans did a nice job of making that feel like a big (rivalry) game.
Witt, have you seen the Appalachian Conference, now sponsoring football? Take out Reinhardt and I give the edge to the North Star in a challenge match between the 2 leagues. On a different matter, I'm heading to BCU-Waldorf tomorrow evening (sitting in Okoboji this week), you in? (Have to watch M'side first tho)

Think of the success they could have in the North Star AND save the conference. Win-win

They seems serious about sports too.

There will be challenges, but that is true in football for many schools.

I think the league needs to keep adding because eventually UMC will leave and so may Augie and Mankato. That may be a ways down the road, but it might very well happen
Every time I hear someone say "Dakota" as if it's a place that exists I cringe more than any other statement anyone could mention. It's mainly you and my wife's grandparents. They also believe I have Native blood in me simply because I'm from "Dakota" lol

"Dakota State University" makes me unnecessarily frustrated.

Northern State might be *gulp* even worse in that regard.

We used to be Southwest State University. Never understood it and I'm glad it's gone.

As far as public universities in South Dakota it is the northernmost. It is THE Northern state school. Makes sense.

Just glad we aren't University of South Dakota - Aberdeen (USDA). When these names were created they made sense, not looking for creativity.

While working at Presentation College (RIP) one president wanted to rebrand as Catholic University of the Midwest for a name. We were all thankful that did not transpire solelybased on the acronym ...yikes.

                          • There used to be a Southern State... it became South Dakota–Springfield in 1971 and closed in 1984. Mel Tjeerdsma went there when it was still Southern State.

Yeah, I obviously get the name and it was more of a good natured rib. There are like 12 Northwesterns in the midwest and they all do fine.

I tried to advocate the Penn State system to rebrand as the Interconnected Colleges and Universities of Pennsylvania, or the ICUP. PSAC fans weren't having it haha

Doesn't UJ have a pretty new facility for Basketball, Harold Newman Arena? They used to play at the civic center at least some of the time, which wasn't terrible, but was off campus. I also believe that the football stadium is actually owned by UJ, but I think they signed a shared use agreement with Jamestown school district and shared the cost of the renovation. Was a community effort for sure. I believe JHS used to play at another facility across town.
