Black Hills State - Back to back road trips is tough, and I don't know what to make of Southwest Baptist as OPSU is a nonfactor. I'm going with my gut and saying BH will cover.

South Dakota Mines - I'm looking for at least a cover in this game. We did not look great against Valley City, but I'm hoping that that was due to first game jitters along with Valley City getting a game against Jamestown the week prior.

Augustana - Rare out of conference games for the NSIC this year. RIP to St. Cloud and Crookston and UIU to the GLVC allowed for it, and I hope it continues. Vikings roll in Chadron.

San Diego - This game is weird. I'd take the Toreros in a heartbeat most years, but hearing that a lot of players were given indefinite hazing suspensions as announced a week or so ago gave me pause. I did some digging, and the folks on the Cal Poly forum believe that USD is at mostly full strength missing one or two guys from their game last week. Therefore, I'll go San Diego since its a pick em.

Western Colorado - Thin air crew gets it done. {Insert Friday Night Lights joke here about Permian}

Colorado Mines - This is a tough cover, but I think the Orediggers will win by at least TD.

Pueblo - Spread is too big for my liking.

Arizona Christian - If Ft. Lewis can't show any signs of life against William Jewell, this game won't go much better.

Western New Mexico - Mustangs take the directional New Mexico school trophy.

Adams - Anything less than 10, I would've taken the Buffaloes.

I agree I think Mines ought to be a 6-9 pt favorite here. Same thing with Pueblo. After watching last week’s games, 22 is way too big of a number imo. I think it is a function of the mathematical nature of Connelly’s model. It takes a couple of samples to move the model in a meaningful way. Especially early in the season it relies more heavily on returning production than on results which in theory hasn’t changed much since last week so it still bares heavily on the model. I still think it is significantly better than other models like Massey.

Ultimately I think Mines took a pretty big knock in the model because they lost Zeman and Johnston, two 1000 yard producers. That hurts them more than Angelo losing Bronkhorst and Omayebu.
