CSUP coaches hitting the transfer portal pretty hard. Picked up linemen on both sides of the ball, QB (from RMAC opponent), RB and WR. Also going after high schoolers in state as well as TX, AZ and CA..

Hasn't that been the theme for CSU lately?

No. When the new coaching staff recruited last year it went the JC route to fill holes and add depth where needed. The others were 5th year graduate transfers looking to play another year of college ball.

As of today, CSUP has sighed 16 players from the transfer portal. Some are immediate impact players.

They've got some really good players coming in from the high school ranks too. Peyton Aukland and Ashton Shepardson are gonna be high impact guys!

I agree. CSUP got commits from several other really good HS players from Colorado, among them LB Gavin Ishmael, QB Carter Daniels, TE CJ James, RB Caleb Llmas, and safety Austin Scheich. Scheich is physical and reminds me of Daniel Bone.

CSUP got 4 excellent commits from Arizona too. WR Kemon Jackson, QB Jaxon Knutson, DL Athiaun Arol and DE Ryan Kavalami. According to Arizona sports analyst Richard Obert, “The McClintock HS connection -- QB Jaxon Knuston and WR Kemon Jackson -- moving their game to CSU Pueblo next season. Both committed there. One of the most dynamic duos in the state last HS football season.”

And similar to last year, CSUP is recruiting the Lone Star State aggressively. Got some commits but waiting to see what the final haul will be.

Lastly, the T-Wolves got a commit from a talented New Mexico prospect. The recruit,
A.J. Manning, a three-sport athlete, earned DB POY two consecutive years at the big school level.

This is interesting. Brayden Dorman, a 4 star QB in HS played at the University of Arizona has transferred to CSUP. He has 3 years of eligibility remaining.

CSUP may have signed the best class in school history this recruiting cycle, but that’s what I said last year. The 2025 class includes 20 players out of the transfer portal, 6 from DI schools, and 3 JUCOs. The remainder played at the DII level. The HS prospects from Colorado, Texas, Arizona, Cali and New Mexico look very good on tape. In all, CSUP signed 38 HS prospects.

The T-Wolves lost some players to the transfer portal however, one of them All-RMAC Center, Senon Chapple. Chapple started as a true freshman, was named the 2023 RMAC Offensive Freshman of the Year, and earned 2024 First Team All-RMAC honors. None of the others who entered the portal had a starting role. Chapple transferred to Central Arkansas which plays at the DI FCS level in the United Athletic Conference (never heard of it before until now). Several teams in the conference played at the DII level not long ago, among them Lindenood, Abilene Christian, West Georgia, Utah Tech (Dixie State) and Tarleton State.

CSUP also lost Defensive Line coach Herman Smith. He left for greener pastures at Stetson University. Stetson is just 45 minutes from Orlando and 30 minutes from Daytona Beach. Snow and freezing temperatures in Pueblo, or sunshine and tropical breezes in Florida. You decide!
