Right. But having Guillozet in the barn wouldn't necessarily have precluded Howlett from recruiting Yoakum.

One has to be a basketball purist to appreciate what Dyer does. Last week he had an assist to turnover ratio of 6.00 for the season. That is insane. he creates chaos on defense too.

Interesting note, if Quinn Hiles gets three more steals over the last three regular season games, every WLU player will have 10+ steals!

Frostburg basketball has been pretty bad, even at the D3 level, so really nothing surprizing or beyond expectations. Still, when a team doesn't show on time for the second half, it is more than a little head scratching! Kind of basketball coaching 101...Show up BEFORE the tip time AND come back to the court before the second half is supposed to begin. Right up there with make sure you have basketballs!!

I suspect assistant coach is messing up. Doesn't happen in middle school ball. They have a few players and are in 8th place

In the Jan game at West liberty, we witnessed the appearance of the Frostburg mystery guest, when their player committed a foul. One problem: he wasn't listed in the scorebook. Admin technical foul.

Last night at Frostburg, the half ended with WL leading 59-43.

With 5 minutes left in the 15 min. Intermission, WL returned to the floor to warm up.
The rack of Frostburg basketballs stood alone at the opposite end of the floor, waiting loyally for the loving hands of the home team. Two minutes remained and the rack remained untouched.

The buzzer signals 0:00 and WL proceeds to the center circle... And waits. They make small talk with the officials. Everyone is perplexed. Where is Frostburg?

    1. Did they take a wrong turn out of the locker room and get lost? Nah, this is their home court.
    2. Did their coach go to the William Jennings Bryan school of oratory? Nah, every coach would have run out of mindless cliches by now.
    3. Did they all get glucose IVs to get energy for the 2nd half?
    4. I considered bizarre X Files alternatives. I imagined the announcer saying:
" The team won't be returning due to the onset of the Rapture. For those of you still in the gym, I have some bad news... "

After about 3 or 4 minutes, a few players straggled out. Soon a couple of more, still tucking in their shirts, likely from the potty break. Finally, the coach arrived and called time out before the second half started! He still got an admin technical. So we ended the half with 59 and started the second half with 60 points.

Whatever he said, it just didn't take. WL forced 30 turnovers and won 117-74.
Frostburg had no warm-up and no answer for WL!

If your team:Would your team likely:
    A. Win the game
    B. Lose a close game
    C. Lose by 31 points

If you answered A, you would likely be correct,

You were playing West Liberty when they are on their game.

In that case, the correct answer is C.

You lose by 31 when: Final score WL 111-Glenville State 80

Edit: Joe's actually 50-4 with Chucky dressed. Not a math major ... but most can do that math.
And WLU has gone 121-17 over what were supposed to be the Chucky years. Seems like we weathered not having him quite well.

I'm still serious ... I'd have called a 30-second timeout and literally canned their coach in the first half of the last game.
Yes, the Bledsoe to the NBA thing was laughable. No doubt.

And during his post-game presser after Charleston, Howlett was asked about getting ready for Glenville. One of the reporters mentioned something about Glenville wanting to run with WLU. Maybe it's just me, but it sure looked like Howlett was suppressing a smile while he answered the question. He gave a typical low-key Howlett response to the effect of "We'll run with anybody; that's the kind of thing we're built for." But it sure seemed like he was working to suppress a smile while offering his answer. I'd guess they LOVE the Glenville games every year.
