That bad blood with AB must still exist. It's just odd. AB brought football (not much but a team) and a respectable basketball program.

It is a pretty deep wound.

Could Urbana and Notre Dame be looking to leave? That could give A-B a chance to come into the Mtn East

Matter of time. The MEC is doomed. My guess is Fairmont or WL will be the next targets of the PSAC.

What reason would they leave? The Mtn East is more competitive for them and they can be more successful there than here. I think travel is smarter for them in Mtn East

PSAC will need teams when Edinboro, Mansfield, Clarion and others are either forced to close, merge or like Cheyney, forced to slash their athletic program in a last ditch effort to keep the doors open. At this rate, the only schools left in the PSAC will be Seton Hill, Pitt-Jamestown and Shepherd from the former WVIAC!

We have 18 members, losing 3 does not mean that they automatically need to be replaced. Even if we drop to 14, that is still a very healthy conference and we would still have one of the largest conferences in the country.

Correct. And, frankly, we need to trim some of the fat. I'd love to add WL or Fairmont and remove the non-football UPJ and the athletically-challenged Seton Hill.

Just as Cheyney gave Mansfield, Clarion and Edinboro "cover" to hide their own financial and enrolment difficulties, once these three are "taken care of," the next rung of financial and enrolment ineptitude will be exposed to public scrutiny. There are studies out there that recommend collapsing the PASSHE to as few as four regional schools. While that may be the far extreme on the one side, the prospect of the PASSHE keeping the status quo of 14 colleges is probably the other non realistic far extreme. The probable outcome will be in the 6-7 range which would cause a collapse of the PSAC. MAYBE they can reorganize...maybe not.

Hey...You touched them last so they are yours!!!! Seems like both are learning that the grass is not greener in the PSAC!

MEC has it's own albatross now in D&E!

We'd love to have IUP in the MEC once the PSAC collapses but the conference probably isn't equipped to handle Ego Joe's massive head!!!!
