Up Next on the men's side:

Slippery Rock at UPJ - The Mountain Cats play sound enough to frustrate the Rock. UPJ is much better than its record. If SRU can turn this in to a ground-and-pound 40 minutes it will be a physical mismatch. UPJ has lost more close games than probably anybody in the country. The Rock has a showdown with Edinboro looming on Saturday ... best not get caught looking ahead. SRU is probably too deep for UPJ's short bench. Rock -7

Mercyhurst at Gannon - Strange things happen in these types of games. Mercyhurst has a history of making teams dysfunctional. The Lake Show needs to show some life. Mercyhurst appears on course for another disappointing season -- although a win at the Hammermill would ease the pain. Expect the Lakers to put up a spirited battle but -- end of day -- Gannon just has better players (and more of them). Gannon -5 in a defensive street fight.

IUP at California - The Crimson Hawks seem to love close games and the dramatic ending. This one could be no different. That said, Cal loves to let teams shoot. Letting IUP shoot will be a major problem for the home team. Cobo Diaz will be a tough challenge for the Vulcans -- not many players of his size and basketball skill at this level who basically play a guard/forward role. For the long-time PSAC fans this is still seen as a big night -- not so much with the younger crowd. The women's matchup has stolen the spotlight from the men's series in recent years. IUP was won 9 of the last 10 in the series including the past 7 meetings. Cal will be up for the game. In the end, IUP is a little too strong. IUP -5

Clarion at Edinboro -- If the Golden Eagles get in to foul trouble ... it may resemble Norman Dale's Hickory team playing with 4 players. Clarion 'dressed' 7 players in its last game. No idea if it's injury-related, players bailing or what. The Golden Eagles played Gannon tough for a half but likely ran out of steam as they got walloped in the second half. Edinboro's likely to lay a big number on them in this one. Fighting Scots -17

Bloomsburg at Seton Hill -- The Griffins are better than people think as this past Saturday's win over Cal can attest. They just struggle putting a full 40 minutes together. At the same time, Bloomsburg is also a good, solid team. The Huskies are a strong defensive team. If Bloom can shut down Trevor Blondin, the Huskies should escape Greensburg with a comfortable victory. Bloom -8
