attended the Gannon / Mercyhurst game at Mercyhurst while the gym was crowded and according to their facility page the seating capacity is 1100 ( the old gym was 1700 ). Their box says they had 2205 in attendance yet there were a few open seats. They need to to stop these freshman from making WAGs (wild azz gueses).
Same thing happened at Seton Hill they put on their web box score for a GU / SHU women's game att was 4,000. That gym only seats about 800 total.

But, of course, WLU does their exaggeration in the wrong direction. Box score showed around 850 in attendance yesterday. Eyeballs showed a standing room only crowd in an arena that holds 1200. Go figure that.

WLU seems to always under report attendance.

Crux of the problem, if you consider it to be an actual problem, is that there is no standard for what constitutes attendance. Is it number of people that come through the turnstiles on game day? Is it number of tickets sold? Is it number of tickets distributed? Is it a guess by the SID? Answer is yes, maybe and sometimes.

It's just a made up number (most times) because the league/NCAA requires them to report a number.

The only number that matters has a dollar sign in front of it. How much revenue is coming in per game.

The attendance number is nothing more than something for us dorks to talk about once or twice a year.

100% correct! But even the bottom line dollar figure is easily fudged to fit the desire of the college administration.
