Also, why is it called the Hub City?
"Aberdeen had four different railroad companies with depots built in the newly developing town. With these four railroads intersecting here, Aberdeen soon became known as the "Hub City of the Dakotas". When looking down on Aberdeen from above, the railroad tracks converging in Aberdeen resembled the spokes of a wheel converging at a hub, hence the name "Hub City of the Dakotas". These four railroad companies are the reason why Aberdeen was able to grow and flourish as it did."

It was a railroad hub early on. Trains going in and out of all directions. The name Aberdeen was after Aberdeen Scotland where head of the Milwaukee Railroad Alexander Mitchell was born. The "Hub City" slogan has been going away for quite some time but those that have roots there will always hold onto it. I doubt the people moving in have ever heard of it called that.

Here ya go. By the way, Jordan MN is also called the Hub City. Their HS boys team is called the Hubmen, while their girls team is called the Jaguars.

Won't get any easier the next two weekends with home games against Mankato and a CSP team that we needed a crazy run at the end to take down, followed by a down-but-probably-not-out-while-playing-against-us-for-whatever-reason Moorhead team and the obviously big Northern game.

It would fill me with great joy if we took down the Wolves at their place this year. Not expecting to, as we have several flaws that are basically ideal for the Wolves to take advantage of with their style of play, but certainly staying optimistic nonetheless. In general, I tend to favor Texas Tom over SaTTher in most Augie/Northern match-ups, regardless of the rosters of each team. Also, I'd hate to see the Wolves run the table in conference play and beat out the Vikes for most conference wins in a season. :)

Hoping the Vikes can hang on to him. Long time to wait before King is actually signed to Augie.
Word is that he was by far the best player on the floor tonight. I have sent out game reviews to all Summit league schools and MAC schools. :)

This is every interaction Kaminsky has had with an official.

Re: The NEW Official Thread of the Augustana Vikings

Augie's ten point win tonight over Wayne was their most balanced and complete effort given the opposition since their Indiana two-step. Jordan Spencer overcame a slow start to guide the way with 9pts-8ast-7reb while Steven Schaefer and Matt Cartwright shouldered the scoring load. Texas Tom sprinkled in a 2-1-2 or 3-2 zone heavily that threw the 'Cats off balance and actually caused two shot clock violations.

Schaefer's shooting exploits off the catch and the bounce can be extremely effective and well known to Augustana fans. Having said that, the aesthetics of Matt Cartwright's jump shot are visually flawless and make it seem that every shot leaving his hand could go in. He's currently filling the Al Richter role of spending most possessions stashed in the corner stretching the defense and waiting to strike, but he's adding more off the dribble moves each game and is a legit Freshmen of the Year candidate.

The most encouraging bright spot tonight was the second half play of redshirt freshmen Bodey Behrends, all 6 foot 9 190 pounds of him. His minutes and play have been extremely inconsistent this season but tonight he seized the perfect opportunity for him given the small size of the 'Cats. In seven second half minutes he had 4pts-4reb-3blk while looking like he belonged in a real NSIC game for the first time all year. If he can continue to understand the best way to use his size he'll be a difference maker on both ends.

Finally, this was first experience with Kaminsky in person and oh boy is he a treat. He growls, he stomps, he flails his arms, he'll create mismatches by going obscenely small because it's his only chance to win, and damn does his team play hard.
