NW isn't very good defensively, well not usual NW good. That's the difference. No worries offensively. Ben has a team this year that is more dangerous offensively than he's had, but they probably won't be as good defensively. This will challenge him this season.

The Gorillas definitely have more talent and size than last year. It's just a matter of how quickly the team can gel given so many new faces and a new coach for the holdovers.

If they buy into ka and his style of play, they will be very competitive. As you said, chemistry is the key. KAs last year at ucm was easily not his best team but they really cared for each other and had an unbelievable bond. KA said that on more than one occasion. I also know that KA is glad to be back coaching in the MIAA which spells trouble for the rest of the league.

The Gorillas definitely have more talent and size than last year. It's just a matter of how quickly the team can gel given so many new faces and a new coach for the holdovers.

They do have more size. They will move up in the conference standings from a year ago. With 66 free throws shot in the game it was hard to get a real feel for just how good they might be. If KA can get these transfers to stick around for year 2 I think that is where you might see them really make noise in the league.

Still not sure how Pitt State will stack up against MIAA competition, but the Gorillas are obviously drastically improved. 4-1 after last night's win over Newman and they only won five games all of last year.
Their lone loss is a 104-95 setback to undefeated Arkansas-Fort Smith in a game that saw the Gorillas stumble out of halftime and fall behind by 29 points with 14:29 to play. Pitt State had the deficit down to single digits less than 10 minutes later and had a chance to push closer.
Haven't seen them play in person yet, but I'm glad they'll likely at least be competitive this year.

Yeah it will be nice to see them do better. Anderson said on the radio that they were very much a work in progress.

UCM beat ECU, PSU beat Newman and NW beat WU 86-78 today at the MIAA Challenge today at the Muni in KC

NW beat Truman St 90-70. TSU has some good shooters and were ahead by 8 or 9 early but NW wore them down. NW now 4-0 TSU 3-2.

Truman definitely looked like a team that had played 5 games in 10 days to start the season, down two players who will be regulars the rest of the season.

That said, it had very little bearing on the final result: NW is a heckuva ball club that's well-deserving of the #1 rating. Good luck the rest of the way!
