Jadin Johnson has also entered the portal. From my count, that leaves us with 6 players. Danitschek, who I assume will get a medical redshirt and have (2) years left, Moala (2), Ratigan (2), Glock (3), and the 2 freshman that redshirted this year, Walters and Ibeh. Walters is from Illinois and Ibeh is from Arizona... hopefully, we're able to keep them here.

In my opinion, and I think many people would agree with me, last year was rock bottom for the UNK men's basketball program. The head coach was let go shortly after the season started after being given much too long of a leash. I thought he should have been let go a year or two earlier. The interim head coach didn't boost the team at all, and pretty much everyone transferred out after the season.

It was time for a complete program reset. I liked the Levinson hire even though he wasn't my first choice. But in hindsight, I think he was the exact right hire for the situation the program was in. I actually interacted with him personally several times when he was a head coach in the Juco ranks and he always talked about how important relationships are. You can tell he genuinely cares about his players both on and off the court and he wants his players to feel the same way about each other. I think that was why he was able to get a big group of transfers to jell and be competitive after losing so many close games to start the season. If he can continue to build the program in this way, I think there will be lots of good times ahead.

But I don't mean to hijack this thread. I just saw a lot of similarities between Northwest and UNK in that they were both strong programs who surprisingly sank to low depths. So don't lose hope. It can get turned around quickly.

I'm hoping for the same in Aberdeen. The last 2 seasons were abysmal, and next year is going to be rough. Hopefully we get the hire right and get this thing turned around to be back where NSU basketball is supposed to be.
