Just saw where 2 players posted about transferring out with some not so veiled comments about the "coaching."

Any Western fans got any insight? Found it interesting after watching the team play @ the Civic center 2 weeks ago

Oh yeah...issues. She has run off the two most productive players from last year's team.

The roster is down to 10 - looks like it started at 13

I saw some interactions that this new coach had with her players & officials that definitely made me take notice @ the civic center regional event 2 weeks ago. Now after seeing these transfers & their comments…..there might be trouble brewing in the Jo.

I would say problems are on the way. She does not appear to be ready to be a HC...at least not a successful one.

She thinks she can win in the MIAA with a roster of international players...doubt that's a winning strategy. All 5 of the new people she brought in were international players and the roster at her previous spot was ALL international players.

It wasn't all internationals, but they tended to be the only ones to see any playing time. I wouldn't panic over a couple of players not liking a new coach, that happens everywhere. If she can adjust over the next year or two to being in a completely new setting (Missouri Western and Eckerd are kind of opposite worlds by D2 standards), I don't think anyone is going to be fretting over a few girls quitting a team that was going to be around .500 anyway.

If she gets an assistant in who knows how to recruit in-region (and starts to learn how herself), her ability to find a few internationals to support it should be a benefit. If she sticks to almost solely recruiting international, it will be a limitation.

Since one of those three that left the team is my daughter I do have a deeper knowledge...not going to go into all the details...let's just say I'd be shocked if she has much if any success in this day and age unless she totally changes her approach...word will travel fast.

I'll respect that you know more about this one than I do, then.

I've definitely seen coaches that a lot of players absolutely hate, but they seem to find a set of players that fit the style and find success with it. Seen it in other sports here in Emporia.

Hopefully Mo West doesn't end up where Western Oregon did. Situation got so bad last year the whole team walked out and forfeited the last 4 or 5 games. Then the University brought the coaching staff back anyway.

Didn't know that about Western Oregon...I could be wrong on my assessment...time will tell.

I don't have any information. I wish I did. There was a lot of talent in those three that left. I wish them the best.

I hope there aren't any more issues.

MacKenzie Hart, who was at MoWest last year, is making some good contributions at MOSO. She is currently starting and is our #2 scorer so far this year.

                        Meanwhile in Emporia: https://www.emporiagazette.com/free/...572c20f78.html

It does appear that the player in question has quit the team. We had a couple players quit last year too.

Gotta try to track down the audio. But from the editor’s opinion and write-up, this guy could likely find his way out of coaching.

This sounds incredibly bad. And I agree with the opinion that he is over his head and doesn’t know what to do.

I thought the in-game coaching got better as the year progressed last year, but it seems to have fallen off again to start this season. Seems like he could be okay if he managed to recruit a team that really fit his style, but isn't there yet. And if this is how he does things, it's difficult to imagine him ever getting a team that's really bought in. Would be a little surprised if he gets the chance to get it there now.

There have been some rumors about him being a pain in the ass from players before, but nothing that reached this level. But there were multiple parents of former players (transferred after last year) that were on the Facebook comments confirming that it lined up with their kid's experience. I doubt we run him out mid-season, but would think there is a good chance he's gone next year. Never really sure around here. Is this worse than the soccer team drinking on the bus? Not the only coach this AD has hired to have these sorts of allegations around town either, just the first to have a recording.

I'm surprised in this day and age that coaches still use those methods...I've seen this type of stuff with 3 different coaches.
