My understanding is that the KPI ranking will be the seeding. It was determined to be the fair way to go with unbalanced schedules.
I'd like to know how it's computed but it appears to be doing what it was designed to do. Pitt was 13-0 when these were released. 11 of the 13 games were against teams with negative KPI scores. Western has played 8 games against teams with positive KPI scores.
There are 4 teams with a .135 or better KPI score. Western has played Hays & Kearney twice and played Pitt tonight (not counted in the current rankings). Pitt's game against Western tonight is their first game against 1 of the 3 other teams. On the other end, there are 2 teams with -.189 scores or worse. Pitt has played both Newman and Rogers twice while Western has played Rogers once.
CentralMO has a positive KPI with a losing record largely due to the fact that they have played Western, Hays and Kearney twice.
I am guessing on the mens side Arkansas probably just took a huge jump with 1 win over Washburn last night.

Current KPI heading into the last week of the regular season.
https://www.facebook.com/share/p/167Dz1K2H2/
Quick thoughts:
FHSU and UNK will be moving up, playing each other twice this week due to rescheduled games (thanks MoWest).
Pitt has games against UCM and Wash which are middle of the pack KPI.
Western plays Emporia and Newman likely lowering their KPI no matter the result.
Going to be interesting last week at both the top and bottom as only 10 teams get in. Sometimes are fighting to get in or move up.

I have been monitoring the KPI for a good bit this season. Absolutely makes no sense to me. I guess that is the point. It is some proprietary system that is a mystery. I know it takes into account quality wins, and bad losses. So say two teams have 2 losses, but the one team's two losses are to bad teams at home, while the other team has road losses to to better teams.
You can look at overall KPI here https://faktorsports.com/
If you take the whole body of work, Fort Hays State is the better team overall. But when you in factor in just the conference, Pittsburgh State is. But then Fort Hays State beat Pittsburgh State. And Western Missouri beat Fort Hays State twice. Clear as mud!

MoWest wouldn't adjust the schedule when we played against them due to incoming weather. Our teams got stuck for multiple days at the end of the road trip in Topeka (women) and between St.Joe and KC (men). Heard Western wouldn't even move the games up a couple hours. We ended up rescheduling our games against Kearney because we were still on our way home.

Kassandra Caron had 33 points in 27 minutes for MoWest in Emporia yesterday. Would have easily broken 40, but the referees called two of the softest rebounding fouls I've seen all year so she sat most of the second half. When she did come back in, 4 field goals and two fouls drawn in 6 possessions. Including being left wide open for three on a simple baseline inbound to take the lead with 70 seconds left. Because why would you guard someone who has 30 points and is 4/5 from three? Nevermind the problems off the floor, ESU's on the floor performance looks like a team that needs a coaching change.
