Winona State out played Minot the whole game. Refs bailed out Minot with a 35 foot 3 pointer with 15 seconds left to tie the game. I’ve watched every team play and hands down Winona State is the best team in the league. I’ve been a Mavs fan for 15 years as well. Winona State will bounce back tomorrow vs a bad Mary team. Minnesota State should take care of Minot with their experience and athleticism.

Welcome to the forum, feel free to post often. Final score was 113/104, 3OT Just how did referees bail out the Beavers?

I think he is referring to free throws not a three pointer. Minot was down three late with Winona having a foul to give which was implemented not far from midcourt. As the foul was made the Minot player heaves the ball toward the basket and it was called a shooting foul. The “shot” fell far short and didn’t appear to have the elevation to have any chance. Looked much more like a pass than a shot to me but it was called a shot. To the shooters credit he calmly made all three to tie the game.

I appreciate MSUKato’s compliments of Winona. They have very good team but I was really impressed by Minot. They are balanced, shoot well, make few mistakes, knock down their free throws and have a post who is practically unstoppable near the rim. I think they are the best team I have watched play Winona. It was a game between two excellent teams that could have gone either way. Ultimately Minot found a way to win and that’s what the best teams do.

Mankato might have a real shot to take down Minot tonight after last night’s marathon. And, while Winona should be expected to defeat Mary they too could be worn out plus despondent. Haven’t checked the box score but think the starters logged most of the minutes for both teams last night. That’s the case almost every game for Winona.

I didnt see the end of regulation but Winona did get a call and three free throws with 10 seconds left in the second OT.

Helluva win by Minot over the best team in the league.

If the Mavs decide to play defense, they have a shot against any team. My main concern is getting killed in the post today. Maybe see more minutes from Jones for a bit more size/strength.

Did Winona fly to Minot?? ;)

Have no idea but wouldn’t think so. Have never known them to have money for such luxury. What prompts you to ask?

Right; and Jones only made two of them. Those little things often spell the difference.

Conversation and jest, mainly. Ha. Almost zero chance they flew, especially with another game today in Bismarck. I’m mixing playoff football in with the 600 mile guideline and other Winona fans dislike of the Minot distance.

It’s a ridiculous distance to drive. It’s a burden being at an extremity of the range of the conference in low budget D2 but a burden shared by many. Going out is one thing but then to hop on a bus and drive all the way back right after the second game is even worse. At least on the way out you have something to look forward to.

To offer a little perspective driving from Winona to Minot is about half the distance of driving from Winona to Florida.

There are consequences when two teams on opposite corners of the conference meet. If WSU joined the GLVC they would still have that problem. Perhaps the NSIC will split one day, with a N. and a S. leagues.

Stiff competition, I know, but I believe we have a new leader in the race for worst announcer in the NSIC. The St. Cloud State guy has taken whining to new heights. A true master.

I would favor booting St. Cloud from the conference for no other reason than to never have to listen to this jackleg again.

The Gulf South is looking for football teams. There were palm trees in Valdosta when I was there for the semifinal. It was nice watching a game, wearing a t-shirt in December.
