Good luck for Winona getting to play an awful team after last nights meat grinder. And Minot manages to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat again. Hats off to them. Where are the Minot posters? This season should be pulling them out of the weeds.

Wow, 2 nights in a row, accusations of referees gifting Minot of a victory. Since they're 17-0, the Beavers must be getting lots of gifts. Different ref' group each night.Originally posted by GHawks View PostMinot gifted a W from the stripes tonight. They throw Eagins out halfway through the first half and then swallow the whistle on an obvious foul with 2 seconds left and call a travel instead.

Couldn’t tell much from a one angle partly obstructed video feed but even the home announcers implied the call could be controversial. But like my high school coach used to say, even if the ref blows one you had a lot of earlier chances to make up for it.Originally posted by vikingfaithful View Post

Like the saying goes, refs can hurt you with a bad call at an inopportune time, but they can't beat you, play better. Refs will make a lot fewer bad calls throughout the course of a game than teams will make bad plays.
I would like to see what happened or get an explanation on the double tech. It didn't seem like a whole lot was going on for an ejection and however the calling official explained it to Matt, he sure seemed to take it well.

Unless it was something completely egregious I’m not a fan of the second tech from 40 feet away with his back turned. Eagins has been in the league for 5+ years now so you’d like to think he knows what he can and can’t get away with. I’m sure he deserved the first one. But I don’t disagree with you that Margs seemed pretty calm after the explanation so who knows.Originally posted by simple as a $3 bill View PostLike the saying goes, refs can hurt you with a bad call at an inopportune time, but they can't beat you, play better. There’s actually some hot mic during this sequence in the broadcast and it leaves me even more confused. Just very rare to see a double tech ejection of a player (a first-team guy at that) that early in a game. Can’t remember the last time if ever I’ve seen it in college ball.Last edited by GHawks; 01-06-2025, 10:36 AM.

I remember there used to be talk of needing to beat the refs also in Wayne because they have a different pool of ref options compared to the Minnesota schools, is it similar up Minot way?Originally posted by vikingfaithful View Post

What it may have been is that Eagins used the N*** word and the NCAA has instructed officials to not tolerate that at all, even to the point of not using to a teammate. It is a flagrant 2 technical, but there should have only been 2 shots. With everyones reactions after the play, thats what I would assume happen. Especially with Matt's reaction to the description from the official. Just improperly administered.Originally posted by GHawks View PostUnless it was something completely egregious I’m not a fan of the second tech from 40 feet away with his back turned. The pool is the pool, but very few cities guys, which in my thought process are the better official in the pool, do not get asked to go that far very often. They get a lot of guys from northern MN, and those guys are just not very good. And Saturday night was 2 northern guys and a new guy.
