  • National Championship for Division two teams with out State funding

Does anyone know how many universities there are in Division two that are and are not State supported?

Here's a list of the D2 programs. Click the links to find out if they're private or state. I tried to find the specific answer to your Q, but this is the best I could do.

      Minnesota:

      -1 Private, 7 Public

      South Dakota:

      -2 Private, 3 Public

      -North Dakota:

      -1 Private, 1 Public

      -Iowa:

      -1 Private

That's what I know off the top of my head.

D2 has 311 members including the 4 reclassifying schools and 163 (52.4%) are private.

In the GAC, Arkansas Tech has about 12,000 students and Ouachita Baptist has less than 2,000 students. OBU leads the conference with 4 football conference titles, Henderson State has 3 titles and Harding has 1 title.

It should be noted that Post University (CACC), Academy of Art (PAC-West), and Salem International University (WVIAC) are private for-profit D2 universities.

Ferris State is public. I can't think of an exception to the rule of a school having "state" in it's name being a public institute.

There used to be a private school in West Virginia called Mountain State University, but it closed in 2012. Its campus was bought by WVU and became the new home of West Virginia Tech.

So who are the teams in current rankings that are private? OB is one LR is the other one. Wingate is one as well. Is that it?
