This is sad for students and employees. D2 just lost another school.

That sounds terrible, those poor underclassmen that were just about set to step foot on campus and bam....better find a new school really quick and readjust your entire life plans!

I know a young man who was returning for his sophomore year for football, now who knows what will happen! Sad

Pretty much! AB was reassuring students late last week that they would be open for the year. They were signing new athletes over the weekend.

Not even a good-bye season for Alderson Broaddus as the revocation order includes an immediate shutdown of all athletics.

AB cut out some athletic programs last year, so I'm not shocked by this decision. I've been a Battlers fan for several decades and I was really getting into their sprint football program. But life goes on...and I'm grateful that I'm also a Western New Mexico Mustangs fan. No more Battlers, so the Mustangs just moved up to favorite D2 team status. It looks bleak, but I hope AB will be able to keep their academic doors open. It's my Mom's alma mater and it means a lot to the little city of Philippi.

            AB's debt is nearly $777,000. https://footballscoop.com/news/d-ii-...down-athletics

Governor Jim Justice wants to save AB, but the plan is unclear. Good luck, you'll need it.

This was written before Monday's emergency meeting. The Governor has pretty much given up at this point, it appears.

He'd have to order the state higher ed commission to reverse their decision, but I just don't understand how they could do that in good conscience.

Some much needed good news for Alderson Broaddus students.
PHILIPPI, WV (LOOTPRESS) – After the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission (WVHEPC) voted to revoke Alderson Broaddus’s authorization to award degrees in West Virginia, multiple institutions announced their effort to help current students transfer. The WVHEPC called the emergency meeting after learning about the overwhelming financial situation at Alderson Broaddus. The move to revoke […]

This region is struggling for students below the big flagships and the elite privates, so I imagine a lot of schools will be bending over backwards to woo any of their 800 or so students looking for new homes. Cal PA is 90 minutes north and is down 40% since 2010. Coincidentally they were also supposed to be Week 1 opponents.
