  • Regional Rankings Explained? With NCAA metrics?

NCAA Posts Overall record, then In Region record. Is anyone else out there curious what metrics they use? Would anyone else like to see it plainly explained?

Most of the metrics are in the PDFs linked right below the table, except for the KPI which is at https://faktorsports.com/. There's also head-to-head results and common opponents.

There are some "practices" but it's unclear as to how a committee uses the metrics. And each comm. does what it pleases. FWIW, I can't rationalize SR3's order at all. I'm resigned to accept that each comm. just uses the data and then each member applies their own judgements. So, they use the metrics, but they're more used as a guide and not a rule.

Don't know if he's doing it this year, but last year InkBlot used those published metrics to predict the full PO slate. I believe he had one seeding in one region off. I believe he even got the region swaps due to travel correct.

Yup. And like I said.. there are practices but no rules. The handbook lists the metrics to use, but not how to use.

I appreciate the comments on this thread and combined with watching the MIAA weekly show it’s clear to say… There are metrics but who knows how they will be used or not used. Sounds like everyone is left to guess at what the committees will come up with.

                This.

People have these conspiracy theories at times but those who put the time in to understand the criteria and then apply it are able to be extremely accurate with the rankings. Sure maybe they're off by one or two at times but overall it seems fairly straightforward.

Maybe a little of that. Maybe a little bit more of entertainment reading people crazy concoctions and conspiracies. It’s almost as fun as airport people watching. Haha
