Originally posted by debergfanIt's clear that NAIA has a better playoff model, and regionalization really isn't the way to go. Take Wayne and Kearney, for example—they could meet in the semifinals even though they're from the same state but different regions. It doesn't make sense. OBU and Mankato should have played different playoff opponents. Mankato vs GV but that didn't make any sense, yet, GV and Mankato are in the same region next year. There are so many other flaws with how it’s set up. If automatic qualifiers (AQ) happen, the best 24 teams should be chosen, and yes, that means fewer teams making the playoffs but the best 24. New Haven is 36 in the country. The current system has been terrible for the past few years, with blowouts dominating the championship game. It’s time for a change.
The playoff system is flawed, but this game in particular is not necessarily a symptom of that. Ferris is just that good. They have a team that could win a game or two in the FCS playoffs.

Granted, but Ferris also dominated all of SR3. Slippery Rock acquitted themselves well but I don't think anyone would call that Ferris's best game, nor do I think a SR3 vs. SR1 game should be held as an example of parity. Ultimately, this Ferris team would be favored by double digits against any other team in D2.

I thought Ferris State would win, but I didn't expect the Bulldogs to crush a really good Valdosta State team. (Then again, I could have said the same thing after Ferris State walloped Harding a couple weeks ago.)
