Whoever the coach doesn't take with him, a lot of the rest will probably head out. Hope not but they had around 60 transfers to begin with I thought I heard.

    • VSU is resilient. This is our 7th trip to the National Championship game, with 4 different coaches. The road may not be easy, but we always find a way. We may not always hoist the winning trophy, but we always give it our all.
Good bye coach. We gave you a chance. You gave us a shot at a National Championship. When a program has enjoyed the level of success that we have, we expect our coaches to get offers at the next level.

I can’t be upset with this coach for seeking a better salary. When he came, we were fresh off a trip to the National championship game. Now, he leaves, 3 years later we are again at the National Championship level. Yes, we will lose some to the portal, and we will gain new stars to replace them.

Did the coach or the assistants that are going with him even fly home with the team? They were not back to the plane when he made the call.

            • Interesting tidbit…Region 1 Slimey Pebble scored as many points vs Ferris Bueller State (38) as it’s Region 3 and Region 2 opponents did combined.

NCAA is going to have to set up a rule where kids can only jump ship one time of year, after the D1 national championship game.

I’d be surprised if there were over 1.200 there counting the 50 football players from McKinney high schools who got free tickets to hold the big flag during the national anthem. Big drop off from the 5400+ at the Harding-Mines game last year.
Pardon my correction but I was at the Harding-Mines game last year and the stadium was, for sake of a better way to say it, was near capacity. Your quote of 5400+ is WAY low. The D2 broadcast the night after the game was talking about how packed was the stadium and that is was the, I think they said, the 2nd largest crowd for a D2 Championship Game in many, many years and it was the largest crowd at the McKinney stadium.

I was shocked to see such a smal number of spectators for both sides. Very small crowd. Let's go Bisons, get to the 2025 NC game and show the folks how we can pack the stadium (and win another NC) again!

That'll happen when the closer campus is 10 hours away by car and the game is four days before Christmas

I think it's time for the schools that lose a player to one in a higher division get compensated by that program. Maybe 10% of the total package? After all, they provided the first opportunity and made the initial investment. It's time to see a few court cases address this issue.

Just like people that leave a job, the previous employer should get paid by the new one?? Doesn’t make much sense…

This could be as simple as a buyout clause, fairly common in professional sports which college football now is. Lamine Yamal's contract has a $1 billion buyout included.

It could. That would also require contacts. Which could happen. People get training at one place and then eventually leave all the time outside of athletics. I’m not sure why it’s so hard for people to afford others the same flexibility.

I’m just going by what was announced over the PA at the game. I was there too.

Because it's much easier to train someone on Microsoft Project than it is to train them to run a 4.3 40.
