If they had a FBS invitation they would take it at the drop of a hat. Just amazing.

They may take the invite but I wonder if it would take a truckload of money to fund the travel costs.

And their current head coach Tim Polasek won a title in his first season at NDSU.

NJCAA DI - Hutchinson 28, Iowa Western 23
              NJCAA DII - DuPage 31, Louisburg 14
              C32A - San Mateo 43, Mt. San Antonio 11

There was no Victory Bowl this year for the NCCAA national championship.

One thing I want to do someday is figure out how many football championships were won along the I-29 corridor running from Grand Forks to Omaha/Council Bluffs. Between UND/NDSU/SDSU/Morningside/Iowa Western - it has to be a ton.

Not only have they won the above FCS titles, they did so while only losing 5 total playoff games in the FCS playoffs. And before FCS they won 3 small college titles and 5 D2 titles going back to the 1960’s. Truly the most impressive and successful college championship program of all time.

Please post your findings about the 1-29 corridor when you've figured it out, you've peaked my interest.

Don't forget the four national championships won by USF.

Shouldn't take me too long! I'm sure I can find some more if I go south of Omaha, but Omaha to Grand Forks is where I'm interested in.

The I-29 Football Corridor - Grand Forks, North Dakota to Omaha, Nebraska (494.5 miles)

                          (In order of geographic location)

University of North Dakota (Grand Forks)

                          NCAA DII: 2001

                          North Dakota State University (Fargo)

                          NCAA CD: 1965, 1968, 1969
                          NCAA DII: 1983, 1985, 1986, 1988, 1990
                          NCAA FCS: 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2021, 2024

                          Concordia College (Moorhead)

                          NAIA: 1964*
                          NAIA DII: 1978, 1981*

                          South Dakota State University (Brookings)

                          NCAA FCS: 2022, 2023

University of Sioux Falls (Sioux Falls)

                          NAIA DII: 1996
                          NAIA: 2006, 2008, 2009

                          Morningside University (Sioux City)

                          NAIA: 2018, 2019, 2021

Iowa Western Community College (Council Bluffs)

                          NJCAA DI: 2012, 2019, 2022

Feel free to fact check me on this - but I count 34 national championships in six divisions across a 494.5 mile stretch of the same highway.

                          Couple notes:

                          -*Concordia shares these national titles
-University of South Dakota was the only school I found that did not have a national title, but did have a finals appearance.
-Every school listed is in a community served by I-29 either directly or as a part of a metropolitan area.

Honorable Mentions - I think of these like tributaries to a river. Not close enough to be in the above list, but not insanely far away either:

Northwestern College (Orange City, IA - 46 miles to I-29) - 3 National Championships
Northwest Missouri State University (Maryville, MO - 40 miles to I-29, 112 miles to Omaha) 6 National Championships

Here's what I want to know - is there another stretch of highway that can beat 34 championships? Just for fun - here's a look at my favorite highway.

(And by just for fun - I mean this is pretty light hearted. I don't need lectures in California geography, or the definition of what a "claimed" NC is, but if anyone has any to add - let me know!)

California State Highway 1 - Mendocino County, CA to Orange County, CA (656 miles)

                            University of California (Berkeley)

                            NC (claimed): 1920, 1921, 1922, 1923, 1937

                            Stanford University (Stanford)

                            NC (claimed): 1926, 1940

California Polytechnic State University (San Luis Obispo)

                            NC: 1980

University of California, Los Angeles (Los Angeles)

                            NC (Claimed): 1954

University of Southern California (Los Angeles)

                            NC (Claimed): 1928, 1931, 1932, 1939, 1962, 1967, 1972, 1974, 1978, 2003, 2004
                            NC (Non-Claimed): 1929, 1933, 1976, 1979, 2002, 2007

California State University, Los Angeles (Los Angeles) - defunct program

                            NC (Claimed): 1964

Azusa Pacific University (Azusa) - defunct program

                            NC: 1998
                            Victory Bowl: 2013

                            California Lutheran University (Thousand Oaks)

                            NC: 1971

                            Pasadena Bowl Champions:

                            Compton (1946, 1948, 1955)
                            Chaffey (1947)
                            Long Beach (1950, 1960, 1964)
                            Pasadena (1951, 1977)
                            Hartnell (1952)
                            Santa Monica (1958)
                            Santa Ana (1962)
                            Orange Coast (1963)
                            Fullerton (1965)

I count 43 National Championships and 1 Victory Bowl. Neat.
