My take is that this is continuing the trend of the NCAA making broad decisions on all of college sports while only considering the small minority of de facto professional teams in men's basketball and P4 football. The vast majority of scholar athletes don't have the same influence on their decisions as the handful of professional athletes.

I think I’m leaning towards 4 years plus a redshirt myself, with room for exceptions.
