Lincoln U of California (all of 500 students) is basically a barnstorming team like Virginia-Lynchburg and Fort Lauderdale. A couple years ago Central Washington beat them 92-0 and it wasn’t that close. Central Washington took knees on offense for the whole fourth quarter. Well, they’re playing on the blue turf on 10/7:

New Haven could have literally scheduled anybody else or just kept the off week and it would have been better for them. Ugh.

Oh dear. Why? Just take the week off because they're gonna need it. Is this a home/away kinda deal?

Is this to give New Haven an 11th game or just to fill out a 10-game schedule? If it's an 11th game it is a good move. PSAC teams have a statistical advantage in ranking because they play 11 game schedules. [ A 1 loss team with an 11 game schedule has a better win % than a 1 loss team with a 10 game schedule]

Guess we will find out when the schedules come out.

If it's an 11th game it'll have no bearing on selection whatsoever. If it's a 10th game it's necessary to be eligible for selection but will have no effect beyond that.

So, what is the point of having the 11th game on the schedude?

Well, maybe the NEC isn’t asking New Haven to
join just yet. They have released their 2023 conference football schedule:

New Haven hosts Frostburg State in Week 1. Challenging but good game.

I have it from a good source that the UNH/Frostburg game is going to be a night game at UNH on Aug. 31. That should be fun!

First ever night game? If it’s on campus, they’ll be trucking in the lights. Wonder if the people living nearby are ok with it (I think they’ve had issues with the university in the past about the stadium but not sure if that’s an issue anymore). A Thursday night with students just back on campus, could be a big crowd there.

You sure they don't have lights?

Oh they have lights. It's just that they never have a night game yet.

That should tell you right there how long it’s been since I’ve seen a game there.
