      Re: OT: Urban

Damn, you guys don't let up and your minds aren't going to change. However, I'm talking specifics and you are talking in generalities and value judgments e.g. "they got a slap on the wrist" and "everybody knew what was going on" or "Paterno would have ended up in jail." Really? I said the decision to fire Paterno was a mistake (that night I said that). Tom Corbett, who was the Attorney General who initiated the PSU case, later recanted and said it was a mistake. He also said Paterno had complied with the law. So, no, Joe Paterno probably wouldn't have gone to jail. Facts, people.

I agree with Jay Patermo to the extent that somebody has to take a step back in the Meyer case and make decisions based on facts and not based on the PR implications.

The irony ... That was a pretty big 'crack' to say the least. Of course the world wasn't going to let go. The Boogey Man child rapist ran rampant. That story had way too much smoke.

        ...

OSU is doing just that ... they are running a full investigation. He's been placed on paid leave and not terminated. Obviously, they have top-notch legal counsel advising them. That's not a rush to judgement. For all we know at this point this could be a witch hunt against Meyer.

As for the media circus and scrutiny ... that's 2018. You aren't avoiding that at a program as prestigious as OSU and with a celebrity coach like Urban. The PR implications are what they are ... most people think all these major programs are dirty anyway. That home opener in Columbus will be sold out regardless of all this perceived bad press ... as will the next 7 home games. The other reality is even if they fire Urban they'll then just go hire the next high-profile Urban-type and everything moves along. He'll get hired again within a year if he's let go.

You can't say facts and 'probably' in the same sentence.

Zach Smith interview was interesting. This is going to run deep.

Were living in a society where it's now guilty until proven innoncent, just the opposite of how it's supposed to be. I don't know who's guilty and who's not in this case, but I still believe in the justice system and that we should let the powers to be decide. The truth will come out eventually. BTW, I am NOT a Ohio State or Meyer fan.

What are courts going to decide? Possibly a lawsuit if Urban sues OSU for wrongful termination? He's not going to be arrested ... likely fired, but ...

My guess is he gets a hefty settlement to walk.

I wrote powers to be, as in the President of Ohio State in regards to Meyer (sorry for not being clearer). We all know he won't be arrested, but Smith could be in trouble with the DA.
