OT: Mercyhurst baseball to World Series

The Lakers won two games against Charleston (W.V.) on Saturday to qualify for the D2 World Series for the second year in a row.

Mercyhurst lost Game 1 on Friday, held on for dear life to avoid elimination in Game 2 and then blew out the Golden Eagles in Game 3.

In the most baseball thing ever, the Lakers are World Series bound despite a 5-3 record this postseason. Good luck to them in Cary.

Yikes. That's a tough one. I'm glad they didn't seed Mercyhurst eighth, though. That's at least a little respect for what I consider to be a pretty damn good baseball league.

Mercyhurst dropped their first round game against Tampa 4-2. Hurst plays Catawba at 3pm ET in the elimination round.

Mercyhurst dropped their first round game against Tampa 4-2. Hurst plays Catawba at 3pm ET in the elimination round.

They had a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the 8th and couldn't hold on as Tampa scored three times in the inning. Tough way to start out the D2 CWS.
