It's certainly an economic spike ... lots of fans coming to town (eating, drinking, etc.)
Yeah, I would think they would certainly see that but I remember when Redskins were in Carlisle, PA (Dickerson College) and they had multi practice fields, stands set up all sorts of upgrades. Since I would guess there would be a lot of wear and tear on the facility if they see any upgrades to the football facilities.

Oh yeah. Upgrades will follow. These NFL teams are beyond pampered. Check out what the Steelers have done for St. Vincent College out in Latrobe, Pa.
The training camp experience has really changed in the last few years. It used to just be open practices but now there are ticket sales, merch sales, entertainment, theme nights, and intentional fan engagement events. When I was a kid, my family would spend part of our summer near Fredonia, NY and the Bills held their camp at SUNY Fredonia (ironically, no football team). It was kind of fun and we would impulsively stop by to see them practice on the way back from the grocery store. Its also why the Bills and Browns would scrimmage at Edinboro. Very different from what now goes on in Latrobe.
This would seem to go against the grain of what the NFL is generally doing (save for the Steelers, Bills, Chiefs and Cowboys - though I still question the logic of the Cowboys holding training camps in California with a token appearance in DFW). In recent years, the Panthers, who previously trained at Wofford College in Spartanburg, SC, the Vikings, who trained at Minnesota State-Mankato, the Bears, who trained at a Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, IL, and the Eagles, who trained at Lehigh University, took their training camps to their respective practice facilities (though, the Eagles, in their typical lack of wisdom, only have one "open practice" at The Linc instead of opening their training camp sessions to fans.
Commies Park in Ashburn must be in pretty bad shape for the team to be bucking the trend and considering staging off-site training camps.
