  • 2025 KU Football

Kutztown's full schedule is out. Here is how the schedule looks (home games in bold, away games are not). This will be the 2025 KU Football season thread.

Sept. 4th (Thursday)- Assumption (another Assumption home game on a Thursday night)

    Sept. 13th- Edinboro

    Sept. 20th- Gannon

    Sept. 27th- Shepherd

    Oct. 4th- Shippensburg

    Oct. 11th- Lock Haven

    Oct. 18th- Millersville

Oct. 25th- West Chester (interesting that this won't be the last division game of the season like it usually is)

    Nov. 1st- East Stroudsburg

    Nov. 8th- Bloomsburg

    Nov. 15th- IUP

I feel like that is a great schedule set up for you guys. Start off with a challenge, then get a reeling Edinboro. Gannon game should be pretty manageable too. Shepherd is a "tough" game 4, but not based on last years results so they gotta lot of catching up to do. Ship/LH/Miller will be a pretty ho hum stretch then you get WC/ESU which are probably the 2 toughest PSAC east teams you'll play this year on paper at this point. Bloom buffer before the PSAC champ game.

Assumption is a weird team. They always do well against us. But then drop winnable games during their conference games. They're stuck in that weird middle of not bad, not great. Shepherd is usually tough, same for West Chester. East Stroudsburg might be the toughest game on the schedule. We'll see, it depends on how well the offensive starters will do this year.

Jim Clements sat down with the AFCA for an hour long interview. Give it a watch.

Two preseason news from KU. First, Kutztown is ranked #7 nationally for the AFCA D2 Poll. Second, RS Jr. DL Freddie Retter and RS Sr. OL Ryan Schernecke appeared D2Football's 2025 Elite 100 team. RS Sr. OL Billy Everitt was picked as an honorable mention.

I missed the game being out of country. I saw KU decimated Assumption.

Edinboro will be interesting. They took down heavy East Division favorite ESU. Outside of Novak and Stewart, no one else for KU was super notable. I didn't catch the game so I don't know how good the team looked. I like KU's odds against Boro.

Outside of the terrible officiating and the head splitting stream commentary; I thought KU was fine against Boro. First half was a bit shaky, but they got themselves together for the second half. I thought the team as a whole was fine, nothing spectacular. I would say the secondary was a noticeable weakness. They gave up 200 yards of passing (they did get one INT though). Secondary needs to step up more.

You expect some homer-ism on these broadcasts. But, the Edinboro broadcast is a bit off the rails. I can live with the cheerleading. I just struggle with the screaming. It's not the occasional outburst, either. You're getting 4 quarters of full-on, Red Bull-juiced explosions. It's like it's the second play of the game. Chill down a bit.

Gannon had a rogue basketball announcer years back who would actually yell at the officials -- on air -- during games.

But, we at IUP can't say much. Our announcers on the video feed may or may not know what sport they are actually calling.

Agree, I expect homer-ism with these streams. I'll get annoyed with it but move on. This was just homer-ism, constant yelling, and terrible audio. It was probably the most unenjoyable stream I have watched.

I missed the game driving back from a wedding. I know KU won big; but looking how they did is a bit concerning. The defense and run game have been solid. The secondary was getting cooked against Boro. It's nice to see them hold a bad team to less than a hundred yards passing. Burkhardt had his big game finally. If they can get Stewart and Burkhardt rolling at the same time, that would make our run game incredibly dangerous. The pass offense was just not there. Novak went 8-19, 63 yards, and 2 TD's. That might be one of his worst performances to date. I hope Novak figures it out, but it feels like he hasn't taken that step forward since he was thrown in 2023 to replace a struggling Blaine. I noticed it last year and it's still happening this year.

Agreed on Novak's performance but for now its been good enough with how we're running the ball. And as Jalen Hurts said "We won the f-ing game".

KU's passing offense last Saturday was on point. They were picking apart Shepherd's secondary like it was nothing. If they can play like that for the rest of the year, watch out.
