  • 2022 Schedules

A couple of schedules have started to come out, and to note the CIAA has gone to an 8 conference game schedule instead of the 7 which was previously played. It looks like the first two weeks are OOC games, weeks 3-5 are Cross Division, and weeks 5-10 are division game. Week 11 still appears to be solely left open for the CIAA Championship game.

    VUU Schedule

    9/1 - VUL (NCCAA)
    9/10 - @ Valdosta (GSC)
    9/17 - Livingstone
    9/24 - @ Fayetteville State
    10/1 - St Augs
    10/8 - ECSU
    10/15 - @ Bowie
    10/22 - @ Lincoln
    10/29 - Chowan
    11/5 - @ VA State

    Bowie State Schedule

    9/3 - New Haven (NE10)
    9/10 - @ Saginaw Valley (GLIAC)
    9/17 - @ Shaw
    9/24 - @ St Augs
    10/1 - Livingstone
    10/8 - @ VA State
    10/15 - VUU
    10/22 - Chowan
    ???????10/29 - @ ECSU

So, basically play half of the other division for a two-year cycle and then play the other three teams in the next two-year cycle?

That seems to make a lot more sense rather than these "one-off" cross-divisional games that didn't count in the standings.

Agreed, this seems to make sense. I would think they will go on the two year rotation as that makes the most sense and it's consistent with how they did the previous two year rotations. It also looks like, at least with the first two schedules, the conference has done a good job of making sure the 8 games are split with an even 4 home and 4 away.

I know scheduling three true OOC games had been hard for some schools, but I also believe some of the Coaches/ADs were kind of lazy about scheduling. Either way, having to only worry about scheduling two OOC games should make things easier.

Fayetteville State's 2022 schedule will see the return of the Two Rivers classic and the continuation of the annual Wingate matchup. Also, not a bad way to kick off the season with 5 out of your first 6 games being at home.

          Fayetteville State

          9/3 - UNCP (MEC)
          9/10 - Wingate (SAC)
          9/17 - at Linclon
          9/24 - VUU
          10/1 - Chowan
          10/8 - St Augs
          10/15 - at Livingstone
          10/22 - at JCSU
          10/29 - Shaw
          11/5 - at WSSU

ECSU's schedule is out, and even with only needing to find two OOC games it looks like they had to still schedule a conference member for an OOC game.

              ECSU

              9/3 - at Benedict (SIAC)
910 - Livingstone (neutral - Rocky Mount, NC.Counts as OOC)
              9/17 - WSSU
              9/24 - at Shaw
              10/1 - at JCSU
              10/8 - at VUU
              10/15 - Lincoln
              10/22 - VSU
              10/29 - Bowie
              11/5 - at Chowan

A question: Why are there not more games between NC CIAA schools and NC SAC schools? It would seem to me that natural rivalries could be be developed; larger gates as a result of shorter commutes; more press coverage, etc?

But think about Lenoir Rhyne/Winston Salem State games; or Lenoir Rhyne/Johnson C Smith; or Catawba or Wingate and the same schools.
                              Just a question.
