Yes. I'm sure their SOS being 151 points higher than VSUs and 118 points higher than Unions have nothing to do with it.

Fayetteville State's SOS should take a hit this week by them playing Shaw and they are barely scrapping by teams.

Anybody looking at it on paper know this FSU team isn't that good; however, they are 6-2 and having an undefeated LR on their schedule is helping their SOS. We also can't forget that they did beat VUU, even though that game was played in a horrible downpour and they put up less than 100 yards of offense.

FSU's luck will be running out soon and I think there is a very good chance they lose at least one of these final two games. Then if they do win the South I highly doubt they will beat VSU or VUU in a rematch.

At the end of the day I think the CIAA will get one team in and it will be either VUU or VSU.

Getting rewarded for losing to a better team is a JOKE!! A LOST is a LOST PERIOD so is the INFAMOUS PERFOMANCE INDICATOR. Who knows how that is calculated!! Im sure after UNION beat VALDOSTA STATE last year no out of conference teams wanted to play them. West Florida LOST to a then 2-4 West Alabama but get credited with strength of Schedule man get out of here. I bet there is more GSC and SIACs on the calls. How can you be top 25 and not be Ranked in the Region? Make it make sense.

Fayetteville State's SOS is boosted by the fact that their 2 loses came at the hands of teams which combined are presently 13-3. Playing good OOC teams helps when it comes to rankings.

But, the reasoning behind the Regional rankings make no sense, especially since it appears to be based solely on SOS which gives a team extra credit for playing and losing to teams on their same level, but doesn't give a team credit for playing and beating a Division 1 FCS school which has almost 30 more scholarship athletes. In addition, if you look at the stats, with the exception of last week, VSU's offense averaged 30+ points while Fayetteville hasn't scored 30 points all season! The same is true for Union. But, in the end, the champion will be decided on the field and I can guarantee you the defending champions won't repeat.

The national polls and regional rankings are not related to each other at all and never have been.

Which is kind of crazy since one of the selection criteria for at large schools in FCS are the poll rankings. Maybe they feel the FCS pollsters are less biased?

But the FCS system is a national one. This is a regional one and has a different approach.

I feel you on this. I played for FSU in 08. First game of the year we beat NCCU (FCS school). We lost to Presbyterian (out of conference). We lost a divisional game to Shaw. We had a really talented team (minus a damn kicker 🙄), were ranked nationally, but got left out of the playoffs.

I agree FSU is not a good TEAM this year. Our defense is stout however, our offense is laughable at best. But to be honest, this year, only the CIAA champ needs to go represent the conference in the playoffs.

That’s the case now due to the loss to Elizabeth City, but it wasn’t when we were 7-0 because YOU published a poll ranking VSU as high as number 3 in the Region! If our SOS was that low back then, that could not have been the case OR your reasoning was extremely flawed.
