Makes sense. Fayetteville State is getting the benefit of a strong OOC right now (UNC-P, Benedict). But, them and JCSU will decide a spot.

When do the first regional rankings drop? And please tell me they won't do the first rankings in alphabetic order again!

Inkblot's first bracketology release (unofficial but he's pretty spot on in regards to this) for SR1 has VUU as the 2 seed, JCSU as the 3 seed & Fayetteville as the 6 seed. Keep in mind the JCS vs Fayetteville game in November and the CIAA championship game will cause someone's ranking to drop. Not to mention any surprise losses between now and then.

We seem to have a couple of key games with playoff implications this weekend.

Johnson C Smith vs Fayetteville State not only has NCAA playoff implications for Fayetteville, but CIAA championship game implications for JCSU (who lost to Virginia Union earlier this season). It feels like a Fayetteville State loss knocks the Broncos out of playoff contention while a JCSU loss would effectively keep the Bulls from a date in Durham in three weeks time as they would have losses against the two top teams in the CIAA.

Frostburg State at California (PA) is also a win-or-go-home for the Vulcans, who've had a couple of ugly losses to Seton Hill and Edinboro this season, but it appears to have been offset by wins over Charleston and Slippery Rock. (FWIW, Cal's game vs Frostburg was added in part because Mercyhurst bolted the PSAC for the FCS Northeast Conference a couple years ago, which left a hole in the divisional schedule within the PSAC West.) It strikes me as lucky, at least from a strength of schedule perspective, that Cal ended up scheduling non-conference games against two of the best teams in the MEC, because that's what's keeping them afloat. Of course, a Frostburg win renders all of that as moot.

Also, keep an eye on the PSAC for a couple of games: East Stroudsburg at Kutztown and Clarion at Slippery Rock.

6-2 East Stroudsburg had a very weak out-of-conference schedule (winless Pace and one-win Gannon) and a very weaker than usual PSAC East, which has them on the outside looking in. An ESU win over Kutztown not only gets the Warriors back into the playoff discussion, but also wreaks havoc om the number one seed discussion - though with eight teams per Super Region starting this season, that #1 seed doesn't strike me as important as that first round bye is eliminated.

Clarion is also a (rather surprising) 6-2, but hasn't really been tested, as their relatively weaker SOS shows. Slippery Rock's losses came against Cal and Gannon (yes, Gannon's only win of the season - go figure). A Clarion upset in Slippery Rock, which I wouldn't rule out, but I also don't see happening, could knock SRU out put vault Clarion into the playoff discussion.

Regardless, we will likely see a lot of movement in the Regional Rankings next week.
