Virginia Union punches their ticket to Durham - and the NCAA playoffs - as they survive an early fourth quarter rally from Virginia State.

      VUU 36, VSU 14 1:16 left

Fayetteville State 23, Winston-Salem State 17 with 55 seconds left.

Coming off their big win in Raleigh, Bluefield State lays a big fat egg at home to end their season by losing to ECSU 58-12, which is somehow a wider margin of victory than the 70-30 thrashing ECSU gave us last year. I am about ready to move on from Davon Morgan.

Okay, so if my math is mathing right, here's how next weekend shapes up:

            CIAA Top Five Standings:

            Virginia Union 8-0
            Johnson C Smith 6-1*
            Fayetteville State 6-2
            Virginia State 6-2
            Bowie State 5-3

CIAA Championship Game on Saturday in Durham: (2) Johnson C Smith vs (1) Virginia Union
CIAA "consolation" Game (for lack of a better way to phrase it): (4) Fayetteville State vs (3) Virginia State**

            * - Johnson C Smith was leading Livingstone 20-7 with 7:39 left as of the time of this post; even if JCSU loses, the Golden Bulls are likely going to Durham based on head-to-head wins over both Fayetteville State (20-14 on Sept. 19) and Virginia State (39-33 on Oct. 31) should all three teams be tied for second place at 6-2 - of course a JCSU win renders this tiebreaker nonsense moot
** - Fayetteville and VSU didn't face each other this season so I have no idea how the tiebreakers will play out, but FSU and VSU will be tied at 6-2 in CIAA play, one game clear of Bowie State (5-3) so the seeds probably won't matter other than figuring out who the home team is going to be
