  • UWF starting QB?

Does anyone know who our QB1 is going to be? Despite some personal observations where I can't help but question leadership and maturity, I thought last year from a talent level Marcus Stokesgave us the best chance to win. Is Stokes the QB1 this year? I'm still just wanting Austin Reed to walk in that door and our helmets not to say Acgos for some unknown reason when we had the best looking helmets in D2 football before that but I'm still excited as I am every pre-season about West Florida football.

It seems Valdosta is set at QB. It’s seems UWF and DSU may have question marks. I’m thinking UWF will be okay.
I don’t know what life without Patrick Shegog is going to look like for Delta State.

Everything I’ve heard during the offseason is the job belongs former 4 star QB Marcus Stoakes.

The 3 man competition this spring was more to find out who number 2 would be between 2 FCS Transfers Tony Bartola and Mike Rich.

I believe clear cut best QB situation in the conference if not the entire nation is Valdosta State, with Sammy Edwards.
There’s been a lot of turnover on that staff this year and in the transfer portal especially at OL and WR but if coach Jack went out and got some replacements at those spots Valdosta has to be the favorite to win the region.

Delta State QB situation is a little more up in the air, I would assume it’s going to be back up QB from last season Austin Davidson who got some valuable snaps in, but obviously did not look like the elite play that Patrick shegog was…
this has to be the biggest question mark of the upcoming season is what does life without shegog look like for DSU.

very interested to see what’s going on at Mississippi college and West Alabama! Will they be competitive this year?

For whatever’s it’s worth the rotation at the spring game was Bartola, Rich, Stokes and the local HS player who saw one series. Coach Nobles says it will be open competition in the fall and that’s no surprise since no one stood out from the others at the spring game due to the dominance of the D. All three of the QB have the same size, are good runners and throw a similar ball-they are practically indistinguishable.

It will be interesting to see how it washes out and this is the same situation the Argos were in at QB in 2019 when Reed stepped up and took over. Fingers crossed someone steps up this fall.

Coach Nobles at UWF media day says QB battle down to two man race between Marcus Stokes and Tony Bartolo and starter won’t be named until game one vs McKenndree.

Coach says starting battles at every position on team and that defense is really good and deep with 25 players who can start. Also plan to run ball in 50/50 run/pass balance and have installed new run schemes.

Fall scrimmage for fans is this Thursday night and also decided on bye week instead of another opponent after game one to get younger players more chances during season. Coach and offensive players say the defense has absorbed the change to four man front last year and is very vocal and is flying around to the ball quicker. The players on both sides say the two QBs are both running offense well.
