Valdosta has a returning QB and everyone else is trying to decide on one. Looks about right given that fact. You could flip the West Florida and Delta order-they are so close and the regular season game in Pensacola will be another barnburner.

Looks about right to me. I give edge to NGU over UWA, and flip them. Otherwise, looks right.

I’m with you on this about NGU…
they are my dark horse in the conference.
This was a 5-5 team with a 3 point loss to a FCS, beat UWA. They have one of the only experienced GSC QB’s coming back with over 4500 yards and 27 TDs over the last 2 years.
he has to do a better job cutting back on turnovers but year 3 as a starter I expect things to slow down for him.

And of course it helps that they have arguably the best offensive weapon in the GSC in Dre williams who has close to 2300 all purpose offensive yards and 18 TDs during his career at NGU.

besides Sammy Edwards at Valdosta I can’t think of anyone else returning in the conference who was close to putting up offensive numbers like this.

Dont be surprised if they upset at-least one of the top 3 schools to end up in the top 3 of GSC this year.

Not that pre-season all-conference teams actually matter, but isn't it odd that VSU gets picked to win the conference but has such little representation on the all-conference team?

Totally agree. NGU will not be a team to be taken lightly by anyone this season.

I’m going to miss BL and following the GSC. It’s going to be a strange year. We have a new coach, a new conference, a new Division and we are looking for a new college president. Best wishes to all those that I have bantered with over the years. I hope the GSC has a team in the D2 national championship.

Don't be a stranger! We are all on borrowed time here in GSCville so let's all post til it's gone.

Larold, I always highly respected your spot on assessment and insight as it applies to Division 2 Football.

Some say that they see the GSC working up a plan to join forces with another conference to help solidify a long term future for not only the teams which remain in D2, but also the legacy of the GSC.

                    Your thoughts?

                      Thanks for the kind words.

Having been around this conference for a while,(I saw my first GSC game, formerly Mid South Conference, in September of 1966,)hopefully such a plan is in the works.
There are obvious challenges, but hopefully the right people step up and make it happen.

Just cannot keep off this site. During the years I have followed GSC, most comments on this board have been respectful and with some insight. Of course we have to trash talk just before big games. All in fun and the enjoyment of the game. I agree let’s be happy we have the freedom to enjoy these gridiron games.
