Is Feyitville State an intentional misspelling of Fayetteville State?

Per NGU's release when they hired their new HC, the Trailblazers are playing Delta State on September 6 in Cleveland, MS.

I don't see a future for the GSC in football. Uwf, UWA, Valdosta, and Delta will just eat themselves to nothing. I see the GSC going independent football and the two east going affiliate in conf Carolina and the two West trying to pigeon themselves into either the GAC or LSC.

Honestly, I think Delta and UWA will end up playing as football only members in the GAC. I know it is a bit of a trek from Livingston, AL to Alva or Weatherford, OK but I think UWA fits that conference at least for football. UWF will probably be moving to FCS in the next few years and I think Valdosta State either goes Indy in football or ends up as a football only member of the SIAC or CC (I don't think they have the money to move up to FCS - if they do, then I could see them moving up with UWF too).

I haven't heard anything about new football playing schools in the GSC (they added non-football member Trevecca Nazarene recently) so it doesn't look like they are making any moves to shore up football. I remember how large the GSC (with the Arkansas schools and UNA, etc.) was when I was in HS so it is just sad to see the conference in the shape it is now in reference to football.

Collegiate Consulting did a football feasibility study about 6 months ago for William Carey University of the NAIA, and one of the avenues they explored was moving to D2 and joining the GSC. The article also mentions that they've also done a football feasibility study for UAH within the past 36 months as well, although I wasn't able to find a link to that article. If GSC football has any chance at surviving, it probably hinges at least partially on whether those two schools decide to move forward with those plans

I agree that the GSC's survival hinges on bringing in new football schools and feasibility studies are good start. I would love to see UAH and William Carey start football with the latter coming over from NAIA. It would be nice for the GSC to make some noise about new football playing schools be that current members starting football or bringing in NAIA programs. I hope it happens, but I'm not going to hold my breath on either of them. UAH has a heck of an uphill battle to start football because the UA system doesn't seem to want it - otherwise they'd already have a team.

Agreed. I think the GSC's absolute best case scenario now would be if those 2 came on board and they were able to poach a team or 2 from the NAIA Sun Conference, like Keiser, and they were able to negotiate some sort of long-term scheduling alliance with Conference Carolinas. That's a lot of ifs though, so I can't say I'm optimistic about all that coming to pass.

Lot's of holes in the schedule...

And who is Ferrum? Why is Flipping Coastal Carolina able to add schools with football but the storied conference of the GSC can't! It makes me SO MAD!!!

Conference Carolina’s has been around for a long time, and it's conference members have been competing against each other in D2 sports (other than football) for decades. Years ago they paused featuring football for a while but prior to that pause, the conference Carolina’s membership included teams such as East Carolina, Appalachian State, Western Carolina and a lot of the present SAC lineup (including Carson Newman, Wingate, LR, etc).

As more and more CC members added Football (along with adding football schools), they reached the needed threshold to meet the NCAA recommended # to again feature football as a key sponsored conference sport.

For many years now Conference Carolina’s has been recognized as a very well run, organized, growing, and competitive NCAA Division 2 Athletic Conference.

With Conference Carolina’s having a growing number of members located in Georgia, Tennessee, and Virginia, it wouldn't surprise me to see a change in it's name in the near future.

Looks like the schedules are filling out nicely. What would be funny is if all four teams somehow make the playoffs.
                          Go GSC and Roar LIONS!!

The schedules are looking better and better.
I know it's early and the GSC carry a lot of football tradition, but they may find that the 2025 version of several Conference Carolina teams to be much more competitive than what a lot of fans and others initially believed. We shall see.

I think the issue here is, at least on the surface, that the GSC doesn't appear to be trying to add programs with football. Of course, It may be different behind closed doors. Another issue is that the NCAA D3 schools (which I believe would have an easier transition process to D2) in the GSC footprint do not appear to be interested in moving up unlike Ferrum which fits the CC footprint or Emory & Henry in the SAC. Current members of the GSC also do not appear to be interested in adding football which is another problem.

I have said before on other threads that there are a lot of possible additions from NAIA but that is only possible if those schools want to make the move and have the money to do so. Unfortunately, we have to wait and see if GSC sponsored football is going to survive.

Nonetheless, I completely understand GSC football fans being mad and frustrated by the current state of the conference.
