This is why some Conference Carolina teams are limiting their games against some GSC teams like UWF. If UWF stays D2, moves like this could come back to haunt them in the future.
I'm sure there is more to this than we know. It would be interesting to know if the cancellation occurred after the formal signing of a contract. If no contract had actually been signed then there's no issue. If there was a contact, then UWF likely had to pay to get out of it. Either way I doubt this comes back to "haunt" UWF. If UWF does move up then this is all moot, if not, then the D2 teams (regional or otherwise) that value SOS will schedule them.

I think they're moving up. I think they were going to anyway, but now that the GSC is looking for a new commissioner and no headway has been made on bringing in new football programs to the GSC it just seems like the best move IMO.

Looks like they are also looking for a game on 9//12 due to a cancellation, did they have to teams cancel on them? If so that sucks.

This game was a part of the CC-GSC scheduling partnership that was announced back in 2024, and all those games had contracts. I filed an open records request with UWF a while back, the Argos would've had to pay a $25,000 cancellation fee.

I believe 9/12 was their bye week. Now that they have an open date again, they're looking to fill one of either 9/12 or 9/26.
