Where are you getting your numbers from? The CIAA only played 23 true OOC games. Of those 23, 5 were against non D2 opponents.

Okay. You're mistaken to an extent.

      1. Yes, the CIAA (if you just do a look) has a non-conference record of 16-15. HOWEVER,

      2. Nearly every school in the CIAA schedules at least one game against a fellow CIAA school and it is considered a non-conference/out of conference game. If you take away those games (where CIAA schools played non-conference games against each other), that changes to 12-11. HOWEVER,

      3. FIVE CIAA schools played non-league games against schools that are not D2 competition. Thus, for playoff purposes, those games don't mean a thing. When you take those games out, the CIAA went 11-7 against D2 non-CIAA competition.

Don't blame the SOS data. Benedict had the 34th best SOS in the region last year.
They got the 1 seed because they were the only unbeaten team in the region and had more wins against teams above .500 than anyone else. They were first in W%+SOS rating, 1st in performance indicator, and 1st in KPI. Benedict wasn't a bad football team, they just weren't a good matchup for Lenoir-Rhyne.

This practice had actually stopped this year. The conference went to an 8 game conference schedule and all the schools did a good job of finding 2 OOC games; however, St Augs dropped and schools had to pick up "OOC conference games" to fill out their schedules. Hopefully next year we won't have to see anymore "OOC conference games".

I knew I could count on you Mr. C. for the facts. Every day is a learning experience and there is still games to play. The Gulf South has a couple of big ones and the rematch in the SAC should be good. Its at Wingate. Will need to search the CIAA remaining games that matter.

LR has played nine teams with a total of 35 wins, WSSU has played eight teams with 40 wins. Plus the team in common they beat by more points.

Just curious what the last ten years results are between the SAC and CIAA football teams. I know LR and Newberry both lost to Bowie in the po a few years ago. I must say though the Bears received tragic news that one of their teammates being murdered the night before the game. I will say one last thing that its good to see WSSU and JCSU doing great. Maybe now WSSU will play LR and not cancel like they did three years ago which I believe is why we ended up playing Ferris State.

If I "mathed" correctly, the SAC is 46-14 against the CIAA since 2014. However, in fairness, several of those games could be thrown out if you took out wins over Brevard and St. Augustine's.

This # could be skewed a bit as well if upper tier SAC/CIAA schools were scheduling bottom tier SAC/CIAA.

Since the CIAA was moved back into SR2 in 2016, the SAC and CIAA are tied 2-2 in playoff matchups, with the average score being 17.3-15.0

Fayetteville State is LR's only chance to make the playoffs I believe, if they knock off WSSU this weekend unless Carson Newman or E&H fall apart the next couple of weeks.

Now that JCSU is competitive it would be nice to see them restart that series with Wingate. If we can continue to rebuild I wouldn't mind seeing us finally play LR and also getting Catawba back on our schedule.

Its going to be interesting ranking this next week with Smith and Union losing. Winston was lucky in two ot win at home. Not sure how I would rank the bottom three. Looks like CN would be 4 WSSU 5 LR 6 Smith 7.

                        Lots of possibilities coming up.

If West Florida defeats Valdosta State this coming weekend they are in the playoffs (strong S0Ss in the GSC), and the GSC could get 3 teams in.

The SIAC's Miles is pretty much guaranteed in.

The CIAA will get at least 1 team in.

Soooo, it's looking like Wingate's in, but who else possibly from the SAC? Win or lose LR will take a hit with their SOS in playing Anderson, which has a lackluster record with Division 2 teams.

On the flip side, it's looking like Carson Newman 🦅 and, or E&H will get into the playoffs after this week's matchups (win or lose) due to the SOS.

According to the latest KPI ratings report on the tenth of November SR2 top five rating is as follows Wingate, Valdosta, WAla. , LR, CN. Interesting to see how this compares to the released version later today. National KPI has Wingate #2 and LR 16th. This is one of the metrics used to determine po seeding.

Looks like the CIAA has a 4 way battle (with Smith having an edge with their record) for an Earned Access invite into the Regional Playoffs.

My thoughts will probably change when the rankings come out later today. These teams are not listed in any order, just the 10 teams I think will be in the top 10 today.

Top 4 are likely Valdosta, UWA, Wingate, C-N in no particular order.

Miles is nearly a lock. I don't know if they would drop out of the top 9 with a loss to CAU, since they already beat CAU. It's possible, but let's assume they handle business. That'd be 5.

WSSU, L-R, JCSU are probably somewhere in the 5-8. WSSU probably stays ahead of L-R due to SOS, W+SOS, and PI, but JCSU has H2H on them. L-R's SOS will drop playing AU.

UWF is 9 I'd guess. Emory & Henry likely 10.

What all those bubble teams (minus Miles) want is for Valdosta to beat UWF. If UWF wins, they'll steal a bid from them. Then one of the CIAA teams would be #7, but which of the 2 mentioned or the VSU/VUU winner? IDK if either would make the jump up.

Question does WSSU get to count their SOS based on their 6-2 record or their 6-3 record. If the loss is not considered in the regional rankings then the boost in the opponent SOS loss should not be taken into consideration either. I don’t see them having a better sos than LR. It’s so hard ranking the CIAA because historically they are not a successful out of conference competitor especially against the SAC.
