Not Football but Coaching Related

As most LR Fans know, women's basketball has moved forward over the past several years. In my opinion, it is going to make a major move forward (as has the Men's basketball program) with next Head Ladies Basketball Coach.
If it is official what I have heard, then I give it a "really big OMG". Way to go!!!!

She did alright at Mars Hill finishing up with a 44-48 record. A lot will have to do with the quality of players she can recruit to to play at LR.

She has some big shoes to fill.

As I said/indicated that Ladies Basketball has been moving up the past several years, I was fully intending to speak highly of the prior coach.
If you look at what Emry started with at Mars Hill, we are talking bottom of the barrel. And she made improvements not by inches, not by feet but by yards and yards and did so very quickly.

And as neat a place as Mars Hill is, in my opinion it is not Lenior Rhyne and Hickory. She should be able to recruit top level players more easily I would think. And she has a strong connection to the top tier NC high school coaching community. I am excited.

You have to admit that Coach Smith picked up a nice gig now heading up Palm Beach Atlantic Universities Women's basketball program. Really nice campus and area, should be very easy for him to recruit for building a strong program at. He did a good job at LR.

LR has had some interesting coaching hires over the summer. Picked up the former swim coach from WVU and former track and field/cross country from Florida State. Clearly the new AD has a few great connections AND a preferred style of coach!
