Battle of the Ravine week!! Great week for all involved! As usual, lots riding on the game. Could really muddle the PO picture of Ouachita losses. Most important thing riding on it though is as always bragging rights!

Tigers have won 6 in a row in the series.

I expect a close one. Always is.

Subplot possibly developing. Ouachita has been on a backup QB the last 5 quarters. Don’t know exactly what the injury is and how long Harms is supposed to be out. I’m hoping he will be back, but no idea really.

Anyone who hasn’t been to this amazing rivalry, come watch on Saturday!!

Should be a great game. Teams seem very evenly matched this year based on what I’ve seen.

Edwards the HSU QB has been spectacular all season. 34 touchdowns with only two turnovers. He’s a real difference maker. Reddie defense has given up 14 points in their last three games (granted against some not great teams).

Should be a slug fest. I figure HSU will catch a break in this game eventually! They’ve lost the last three games by a field goal in the final minute of the game or OT. Maybe it’ll finally be Saturday.

Rex said “bruised knee” on the broadcast. Riley was dressed for the game, but Eli did a good job managing the game, so he wasn’t needed. Considering the relatively slow start and the two drives that bogged down to FGs, I feel that Riley will absolutely be needed Saturday. Givens isn’t going to be putting 200yrds up on HU.

I have long thought that being the final game of the season the Battle of the Ravine works against the team that's advancing to the NCAA playoffs. This game means so much to both schools that it's often hard for either to get back to that same level of focus and emotion the following week.

I may change my mind as the week goes on, but today I believe that the game will be decided for the Reddies if Henderson shutting down Ouachita's running game, or at least limiting it, and on the other side Ouachita, the Tigers must find a way to put pressure on the quarterback and cover the center of the field on pass plays. This game will not be decided by who gets field goals, but by who avoids FBs and puts touchdowns on the board. It will be a lot of fun, should be a full house, and the fans should get their money's worth. Oh, and both teams will use trick or unique plays they've not used all year long.

On Riley Harms, I expect him to be healthy and play, but if the knee doesn't heal, it was good to see Eli get a lot of snaps and find a rhythm of sort this weekend.

I agree 100% it hurts the teams going forward. You get amped up so incredibly high for that one and that’s hard to sustain for a second week. Problem is, they gotta do it. Also, it’s just fitting that’s the last game of the year.

Y’all are more optimistic on Harms playing. I’m expecting to worst, hoping for the best.

Didn’t realize that Edwards only had two turnovers this year. That’s dang impressive. Tiger secondary can create some picks, but they can also give up a bunch of yards with back zone.

I expect a high scoring affair.

That zone D is making my chest hurt the entire time. I understand they may not have the personnel to make man to man work well, but it feels like we are almost dependent on getting interceptions or dropped balls. Not a good strategy against someone with only two INTs all season.

Slowing the Ouachita run is definitely huge for the Reddies. If they can put OBU in obvious passing situations, particularly if Harms is banged up, that plays into HSU’s hands in a big way. The Reddies are second in the country in sacks this year and can really get after the passer.

On the flip side, Reddies have to be able to run the ball. Not too worried about Edwards and the passing attack unless they’re one-dimensional and have to throw it more than they want. HSU actually ran the ball very well in this game last year. Will be interesting to see if they can do it again Saturday.

Special Teams also seems to always loom large in this game. Won the game for OBU in 2021 on the Goodman kick. HSU had the same chance last year and couldn’t make it.

Agree. I actually do think they have the personnel. I just think the whole philosophy is don’t give up a big play which limits their aggressiveness.

I’m still not sure how Ouachita won that game last year.

Love BOTR. I’m always jumping back and forth between the Harding-ATU game and BOTR. Both HSU’s and OBU’s defensive lines were tough for us to run against this year. Hard to say which one the toughest against the Bone. Seems like I remembering HSU D-line being a little better this year.

Welcome back, Redready. It’s been a few years.

congrats on ending the streak. Reddies played very well.

These games always seem to come down to special teams, 2 missed XP and a missed FG. Ouch.
