  • SR4 Power Rankings

Over on the RMAC site D2-Football-Fan posted this question. What are your thoughts on the regional rankings as of now? I said they seem to be spot on, though I wondered if UNK might be a bit lower than six but did not know where to bump them.

Is it too early? No way! Based on what we've seen, including a few surprises already, how do you think the current teams should be ranked? With too few data points, here's where I am.

    1. Harding
    2. Angelo
    3. Western Colorado
    4.Central Washington
    5. UTPB
    6. UNK
    7. UCO
    8. Fort Hays
    9. SAU
    10. Mines

My first thought is the parity in the super region. Seems like we have a pretty good picture of good parity with the inter-conference games we've seen so far between the LSC and the RMAC and MIAA. GAC is hard to judge because of the silo. There's two teams with a loss already above SAU. So much is going to happen, but I wonder if a 10-1 SAU team (or 10-1 HSU team) could be kept out of the playoffs due to the silo?

I don’t think a 10-1 team is going to get left out

Still way too early. I agree with Division Two. If SAU or Henderson go 10-1, they probably get in at 7 or 8. UNK is probably going to loose to PSU and UCO. I don’t see them in the top 8. If Pitt beats GVS and goes 8-2 or CSU- Pueblo goes 9-1 they might get in ahead of a 10-1 SAU due to SOS.

Kearney wont be top 10 after a couple of weeks. UTPB ahead of CW due to beating them last year and having a better non con win (UCO). No issue with the rest.

I think Harding runs the table and Ouachita ruins everyone's hopes and dreams left on their schedule besides Harding and makes it a one bid league.

            It's SOOOO early.

But with 4 conferences and 8 bids, it's easy to mentally start with 2 per conference. If you vary from that, who gets left out and who gets added?

I think it's easiest to imagine the LSC getting a 3rd team, especially if they all play a 1-1 round robin.

I'm wondering about the MIAA right now. If Pitt St loses this week, who would be the second team to get in from there?

As long as there is anotheer team in the GAC whose only loss is to Harding, it's hard to imagine them being left out.

If CSUP loses this week to UCM, are they in jeopardy (unless of course they run the RMAC and get the new "earned access").

Lots of interesting scenarios. This new alignment and the addition of the 8th spot will make sure that it's fun right up to the end!
