Thot #1: Pitt and NW were once the Standard of Excellence in the MIAA. Annually, all other teams, in the league and out of it, rated themselves on how well they did against those two. No more. With the eclipse and fall of the two former power-houses, we now have no leaders. Ft. Hays proved how far we have fallen when although it managed to win the title two years in a row, it was utterly embarrassed in the POs. And such will be the case again this year if one or more MIAA teams are allowed in the POs. Alas. Despite the silly nonsense that every coach who has played them this year is wont to mutter about Lincoln "improving", fact is, "No, Coach, Lincoln is not getting better; it only seems so because you are getting worse." The clear fact is that the MIAA is becoming a worse league year after year, and not just a little worse, but a lot worse. Even if you cannot see it because of this silo nonsense, you can sense it. Lincoln is Lincoln; they are and will remain a Standard of Football Failure for as long as they remain in the MIAA. We, the MIAA of the Johnson / Racey Regime and their quantity over quality crowd, are coming down to Lincoln's level. This is what happens to a conference who willy-nilly throws just any political correct incompetent into the Commissioner's chair. On a membership level, this seems to have also happened at the AD level.
In one very great sense, it is fortuitous were are stuck in the Johnson / Racey Silo system. Can you imagine what virtually any football team in any conference would do to a Lincoln or a Talequaw Tech if they had a chance to play them? Scores of 60, 70, 80, and even 100-0 are certainly possible. Numbers like that would certainly get the MIAA some nice national recognition. In a month or so we are going to see just how low the MIAA has fallen when the POs begin. For those who think the last few years have been bad, all I can say is that they have not seen anything yet. This year will be truly embarrassing. The great BBB watches a good many D-2 games each Saturday, and thus this brilliant, educated rocket scientist is well aware of what is out there. In his opinion, the number of teams out there who could easily beat the best the MIAA could offer are too numerous to name. Many of us were very, very proud of the MIAA football at one time. We exalted in MIAA mastery over all other leagues. But as the old saying goes, "Pride preceedith the fall." And indeed, fall we have, and fall we will continue unless someone who cares takes charge of the league.
Thot #2: Frank Pierce--There cannot be a worse college football team anywhere in the nation, no matter the level, than Franklin Pierce. I think this D-2 outfit in the Northeast Ten conference more closely resembles a high school football "team" or a frat intramural club than a college. FP is so off the charts bad that Lincoln and Talequaw would probably massacre them. As each "game" goes on Pierce's opponents actually seem to get tired of blocking their punts, recovering their fumbles, intercepting their passes, sacking their quarterbacks, or ALWAYS, and seemingly automatically, going up 30 and 40 to nothing in the first quarter. Every Saturday at noon (EST) check them out for free on livestream. The comedy of errors is actually very entertaining.

Although I went with the favorites, I have a feeling that either Pitt or UNK could play the spoiler role this weekend.
