I'm so glad collegiate football is so eff'n important in this country when a pandemic is starting to overrun not only large metro hospitals but rural hospitals. Wear your eff'n masks!!!!! BTW, I work at a hospital if you want to know. I couldn't care less if any sports is played right now. I wear a mask and goggles 8 hours a day, 40 hours a week plus what I have to do just to shop for necessities on weekend. PLEASE WEAR YOUR MASKS! TIME TO END THIS!!!!

With the Bods out, it looks like the Mules and Bearcats will play for all the marbles in the Scrimmage Bowl on November 21 in "the ville".

Football would be the safest. Indoor basketball is going to pose a serious threat.

                  Yes, but safest compared to:

                  - no sports at all?
                  - compared to all other sports?
                  - compared only to basketball?

If you're saying compared to no sports at all then that's obviously not accurate. If you are saying compared to all other sports then I can think of numerous other sports that are safer to play during COVID than football (track, tennis, golf, etc.). If you are comparing it only to basketball then that is debatable. Inside v. outside favors football but football also has 10-12 players in each others' faces repeatedly throughout a game at the line of scrimmage, not to mention the pile ups after plays.

The biggest issue basketball is going to have is if one person gets it then it's almost certain the entire team who have not already been positive will go into quarantine which is going to cancel 2 weeks of games immediately.

Football versus basketball spectators - but even outdoor football versus indoor basketball - football is safer. UV light kills Covid almost immediately. Indoor basketball won't have the UV light.

Interesting. Someone should let the college students who had the big, outdoor, unmasked parties where COVID was spread that UV light killed it so that's not where they contracted it.

Outdoors is safer than indoors but I think UV light is much less important to that compared to the wind/atmosphere dissolving aerosols rapidly. Neither matter when your lined up face to face with someone while yelling and breathing heavily or doing the same at the bottom of a pile of players. From that perspective, I don't think either basketball or football is safer than the other.

I believe that the NBA proved that statement incorrect !

You have no way of proving the transmission was during the day. It seems more likely that it spread at night when they went inside or when the sun went down. Where are the instances you're referencing?

If you're going to be sarcastic, you better be right. Humble and inquisitive but incorrect is not a big deal at all. Snarky and wrong is a bad look. In addition, I mentioned spectators, not players, but I would still rather play football outside than basketball inside.

Some random stuff about UV light:

This CDC site also references ventilation multiple times as being a benefit for outdoor activities and interaction but not UV light. https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019...to-go-out.html

Now, back to my sarcastic ways...

Edit: Also this article mentions the benefit of UV light but explains the most effective UV light is not the UV light we are exposed to on a daily basis and the research done on the benefits of UV light killing viruses is typically man made for research purposes. https://www.healthline.com/health/do...nd-coronavirus
