Agree with all of that. I kept asking myself when the unk was going to show up with the option game...

Its all a process and were 1-0. All you can ask for week by week is improve, stay healthy and leave the stadium with 1 more win that you entered with.

AD was one of the best at getting steady improvement, and having teams hit their peak at playoff time when he was at NW.

A lot of new faces at UNK, but it seemed to me that there were a lot of similarities to games from last year. The offense scored early and did well late but had a period in the middle of the game where they couldn't move the ball. No running threat outside of Davis. Davis making a few plays in the air but also making a critical mistake. The defense not being able to assert itself much at all.

But despite all that, they managed to stay in the game even though there were points when it looked like UCO was going to put it out of reach. Some of that was on UCO, but credit to the Lopers for hanging in there.

I don't want to jump to too many conclusions based on the first game of the season under a new regime. Both lines for UNK weren't at full strength, they were playing a pretty good team on the road, and there were some positives to build on.

Next Saturday is a get-right game against Northeastern at home. Hopefully, the Lopers can get healthy and build some momentum with a tough stretch of games after that.

I’m glad we got Davis out of the way in week 1. I certainly wouldn’t want to play UNK later in the year. Outside of the playoffs I think anything is still possible. I don’t see UNK being better than an 8 win season again now. Still, a very good 8 win team.

I'd be pretty ecstatic with an 8-win season this year after starting with a loss. It will be a tough task though.

Your new HC admitted that was his fault for calling them to go block the punt at that point in the game. There were a lot of small things really that could have turned it around but he got too aggressive at the wrong time. Of course, had they actually blocked it we would be having an entirely different conversation.

Blame could be split 50/50. Sure too aggressive at the wrong time, but you also have to avoid touching the punter as much as possible, especially in crunch time.

Had UNK not blocked the field goal at the end of the half, I dont think we would see a punt block attempt

Family stuff kept me from being as plugged in as I would have liked.
