  • Pitt State @ NWMO, Week 8

Gorillas have lots to work on.

I’m hoping for a cloudy skykick-less day for starters

This is going to be a great game. NW is playing for pride and will give pitt all they want and more.

Pitt is running out of time to get right. They have gotten by just out talenting teams at times this season.

NW is freeballing with nothing left to lose, and I think Pitt will get the kitchen sink from them.

Pitt needs to get back to basics in a lot of areas. I saw poor tackling today for the first time since Wright and company took over. I also saw alignment and communication errors that I haven't seen before. Pass blocking has been iffy at times, and injuries are piling up at DB, OL, WR, and other spots.

The bright side is that they haven't really come close to their ceiling yet, and haven't lost yet.

The G's are hard to figure out this year. They're undefeated which is what counts most, but not really looking like the #3 team in the country. If they do have a high ceiling, then next week at NW would be a good time to start reaching for it.

Pitt was sort of similar last year. Wright teams don't wow. They just win by being solid and playing complimentary football. They edged out NW and ESU last year, and needed a last second miracle throw to beat UNK. All 3 games came down to a single drive or a single play. It's a tough conference.

They are not one dimensional on offense like last year, that may be why it seems to be taking longer to work the kinks out?

            IDK?

This will be a great game two great championship teams playing.but Pitt will win and why we have a sub par head coach and coaching staff.the defense will be great but dont think are offensive will be up to the task.

It depends. If Pitt tries to play more of that hideous Zone, nw might torch them.

Injuries could play a part, too. Pitt was waaaaaay down the depth chart at DB by the end of the game today.

I think Pitt will have to make Hohensee beat them with his arm. If they can stone the run game, or at least slow it way down, I like their chances.

Nw is not a championship team…. Get off the pipe.

Harris is pretty hard to stop. Felt like he had more than 105 today.

This game, no doubt, is "THE" D2 College Gameday. If College Gameday did D2, they would be at this game. Pitt will have to key in on Jay Harris. Jay Harris has 7 straight 100-yard games. Keying in on Harris allows NW to set up the Play Action. The ONLY blemish on the Pitt resume stats is defensive passing yards. This game will be within 3 points.

Gorillas will have to stuff the run early then bring pressure on Hohensee to disrupt the NWMO offense.
On offense must establish the run and have a breakout game in the passing department. (#88 must have a big game)

                            Both easier said than done.

In the conference NW with healthy Hohensee is 3-0, with hobbled Hohensee , 0-1. No Hohensee NW is 0-2. As Mike goes NW goes. There are only a couple of MIAA teams NW could beat without Mike and unfortunately they weren’t Hays or Emporia. The keys this week are keep him healthy, and don’t beat yourself with costly penalties and turnovers( which had been a tall order at times).
