  • UCO Bronchos 2024 thread

Year 3 of the AD era:

    Sept 7 vs. Langston (NC) 7 p.m.
    Sept 14 vs. Central Missouri 7 p.m.
    Sept 21 at Neb.-Kearney 7 p.m.
    Sept 28 vs. Fort Hays 7 p.m.
    Oct. 5 at Mo. Southern 2 p.m.
    Oct 12 vs. NW Missouri 2 p.m.
Oct 19 at Northeastern State (NC)
    Oct 26 vs. Pitt State 2 p.m.
    Nov 2 at Mo. Western 2 p.m.
    Nov 9 at Washburn 1 p.m.
    Nov 16 vs. Emporia State 1 p.m.

I find it interesting that there are no Thursday games this year. The September games are all at 7 p.m. which could impact attendance. The NW Missouri game is at the same time as OU-Texas.

UCO had a large recruiting class this year.

What are the predictions for this upcoming season?
    Go Bronchos!

gonna take it one game at a time this season. we haven't played consistent enough yet for any kind of Nostradamus moments from me.
i know there has been much sh*t talked from Langston, Oklahoma. the proximity to Edmond has a bunch of these students mixing at parties and i hear there is some talk of them thinking they can stick us. i think this game will see us playing mostly backups in the 2nd half. their average oline size is 255. they may play really big but the biggest kid is 310 and he doesn't start. not really even worth discussing. they remind me of a broke ass orange and black Lincoln. no discipline, hot headed but lack physical size.

all the games at home this year are very winnable if we play like we played the last game. vs Pitt state.

defense is completely rebuilt. top to bottom.
the fat was cut from the dline and added some size and depth from the juco kids. we are in the senior season for Largent, Adams, west, for the starters. then the senior backups as well. Stilwell and Hudson are the only other kids that have seen action. were fairly deep but outside of the rotation, we drop off significantly. they are expecting the freshman from taxes to be a juggernaut but no one has seen him yet. i guess he comes in next month. we went back to the 3-4 and have set a precedent of stuffing run lanes by occupying blockers instead of shooting gaps now. keeps our linebackers clean but they're gonna have to get there.

we have heavy rotation on linebackers over all so they're not hurting for depth at all. they do have 2 seniors they will miss after this season but the guys behind them have far more potential as far as where they are in their development. we brought in rocky Calmus's nephew and hank Puckett's little brother. both all state linebackers. we got a third from piedmont that was also all state but dont know much about him. we are straight up stacked for linebackers for the next couple of years. fast strong and a little bit psycho just like i like my women. lol

we sent a BUNCH of dbacks looking for new schools. that's all i can say about that. don't know much about the crew that's left or who they brought in new. the only thing i can say is there is buchheit back from injury and the rest of em fighting for the other three positions. they made an emphasis on TEAM players and got rid of most of the ME players.

as you are aware...all new defensive coaches. young but fairly proven. at least quite a bit of experience at their respective position. be it playing or coaching.

    color me cautiously optimistic.

the offense is feeling good about where they are. we lost Steph but i think by the end, everyone was ready to move on. he wasn't leading like he should have been. he was brought in to be a runner and AD tried to weave in some passing skills which he really wasn't that good at. as with EVERY team, we want to be balanced but we did bring in some line man to shore up some deficiencies. ill wait to see how it comes along before i get too hyped on them. were still unproven. day by day...

I know Pitt really wanted the kid fromTX. He's crazy strong. The rest can be taught.

My guess is that he didn’t want to be on the scout team and invited to fill water bottles on Saturdays.

This kid was sought after pretty hard by Mowest and Pitt.

              bradyn smith
stats say 6'1" 295 but hes more like 5'10-5'11" 305-310 range

fireplug. tough to move but it's a toss-up right now if he's a player this year.
a couple of lower d1 offers and like was mentioned, several other MIAA teams wanted him. originally committed to ULM but de commited and committed to UCO same day.
won gold and set a state record last year at bench press for 705 lbs. don't know if that was with bench shirts or braces or whatever but 700lbs by a 19 yo is good no matter how you slice it, id say a pretty good get for Swanson and UCO in general. well see if that bench press translates enough to college football this fall for him to be in rotation. film looks good but not sure about the competition i was looking at in his high school film.

What has the Jimbo Slice clone done with the real Jimbo Slice? Usually by now The Real Jimbo Slice (TRJS) has them winning the D2 NC the FCS NC and playing within a TD of Michigan State in the Alamo Bowl.

yehhh that's not exactly true. most of my posts are usually for the UCO fans to read. fans gloat and hype their teams. i don't think I've gone all in on anyone other than emporia. but thanks for thinking about me.
