There have been rumors floating around campus about this for a couple months, but it looks like it's happening. Haven't seen anything official from athletics yet (I don't think we've even added him to the roster), but have pretty reliable confirmation he's here.

OK State 3rd string QB. Coach Gundy's son.

He's not a Big 12 QB, but I think he'll be pretty good in D2. Had lower-end FBS teams interested in him, originally transferred to Ohio and bailed out after about a week.

Supposed to be a really good runner.

I haven't seen him play, though.

I think he was an OKC kid, so jimbo slice may know more about him.

I watched him play in high school and wasn't that impressed.

he's not fantastic but he isn't bad either. trained by his dad and a professional QB coach in OKC. he did great things at Stillwater high school but he had a stable full of D1 players around him. we scrimmaged against him a couple of times and he's serviceable in scrambling situations but doesn't look to throw first. like i said, he had a bunch of weapons around him. i think id classify him as a game manager as opposed to a game changer. not flashy but gets things done.

i checked with mine.. the younger brother won state with most of that d1 talent. Gunnar took them to the ship his senior year but got beat. the younger brother decided to go professional baseball and come back to play if that doesn't pan out. (i suspect hell end up at OSU when this current OSU QB graduates. just my thought. i mean, Gundy sleeps in the same room with the kids mother after all.

More than we can say for you…. Hahaha jk. you left the door wide open on that one. I had to pull the trigger.

nah but, I’ve heard similar sentiments as you on the kid. I’m not overly excited about it, but should make for a great pick up in the QB room for us

right. too early to be careful about what you say. from here on out ill have to proof read lol.
Gundy is a good qb if nothing else than to push the rest of the room. hes got a big name and he should keep the room on thier PS and Qs.

First off I'm a little worried about how civil Reload and Jimbo are right now.

Second I'm bringing this over from another thread:
After 2012 season: Tyler Eckenrode is going to be hard to replace at QB for ESU. (Enter Brent Wilson taking Hornets to the playoffs twice in his two healthy years)
After 2015 season: You can't replace a Brent Wilson at QB for ESU. (Enter Braxton Marstall who won 11 straight games in between losses to one of the best NWMSU teams in 2016)
After 2018 season: Braxton Marstall was good but can ESU keep plugging in new QBs? (Enter Braden Gleason who set about every passing record in ESU history and was the first QB to win nine games in back to back years)
After 2023 season: Braden Gleason carried ESU a lot...

Higgins has said that 1-4 this is the most talented QB room he has ever had - and the 2015 room had three guys that would eventually earn Offensive Player of the Year honors in a D2 conference (Wilson 2015 MIAA, Ty Reasnor 2017 GAC at Ark Tech, Marstall 2018 MIAA). This is the first time Higgins has had a transfer QB in the mix to start the season since 2009 and if senior Chase Ricke earns the spot he will be the oldest first time starter for ESU in a long time.

If there is any coach in this league that I would trust with developing QBs over the last 10+ years it would be Higgins.
Who ever the QB ends up being will line up behind an offensive line with all five starters returning. And they will be throwing to an All-American receiver in Tyler Kahmann along with Trenden Collins who was our third leading receiver as a true freshman and high jumped over 7 foot and made it to the NCAA Championships last year with 42 catches and six TD and moved into the starting lineup the last couple of games. He'll also have Kingsley Bennett who has moved from RB to WR and ran 10.37 in the 100m last year to qualify for D2 nationals. Then add in fifth year TE/S-Back Tommy Zimmerman who also had six TD last year and there are some weapons available.

I'm not saying that the Hornets are going to run the table and win the nattie, but whoever has ESU is listed in the bottom half of the league has not paid attention the last 12 years. Or it's a sign of how tough this league really is.
