No doubt, but if we think coaches aren’t playing the best players available regardless of “burning” a redshirt, I think we are delusional. Players redshirt because they are hurt, or aren’t developed enough or there is an abundance of serviceable players in their position.

They have freebie games fir redshirts now, too. Kind of the best of both worlds.Originally posted by GorillaTeacher View Post
What do people think the redshirt year is for?

If I were a coach, I would not redshirt a player, knowing that he may be gone in two or three years.

i think his overall production and size helped more than anything. dont remember him being a HUGE threat against UCO. mateer has a good TE at WSU and probably would like a good target to help with the lack of oline health and lack of ability to keep the qbs clean.
finley was a grea TE at ou back in the day and im sure he knows a good talent at that position.

The Naval Academy or like he gave up football and straight up went Navy? Good for him. I’m USAF, we appreciate our sailors.

Higgins, now at OU, and Nichols, a corner who is a grad transfer that didn’t play much. We did lose our all region center to the armed forces. He joined the navy.

Great frame, good speed, decent hands, great blocker. I don't really give Pitt credit for that. KU developed him,.Pitt borrowed him for a year, and now he's off to D1 again.
He was mostly wasted at Pitt under a bad OC.

That I know of, none so far. I thought Terrill Davis might but for now he is still around. Are you suggesting it is a good thing if there is a mass exodus from a program? I would think that isn’t a sign of a healthy program.
