Three losses by a combined 14 points. The Lopers have been competitive but unable to get over the hump. Slow starts have been a killer. 12-0 to Wayne. 10-0 (later 24-7) to Chadron. 16-0 to Emporia. It's not a team that can afford to keep falling behind by two scores before figuring things out.

In the preseason, Held said scoring 28 points per game would make a difference in taking the next step as a team. He was right, but the problem is that they're averaging under 17 ppg. To be fair, UNK has been forced to lean on a new quarterback and third string running back. It was good to have Harris get back on the field a bit yesterday, but he's still going to need some time to get to peak game ability. And who knows if he'll even be able to get back to his pre-injury form? Tate also got injured in the 4th quarter, and if he misses any time moving forward, we'll be down to our 3rd string QB - a scary thought for an already struggling offense.

Next week at home against Washburn is a big game. Lose that one to fall to 0-4, and the season could spiral out of control quickly.

Without Tate they really stand little chance of scoring enough points to have a lot of success. That defense looked like it's old self yesterday which was a good sign.
Might be a tough year in Kearney.
