Winless season incoming? Washburn outscored the Lopers 28-0 in the second half to win going away.

UNK only managed a pick-6, as the injury-riddled offense did nothing. The Lopers rotated between 3rd and 4th string QBs, started and featured a freshman 4th string RB and had a WR corps that is down 6 players from the start of the season. All of that resulted in an abysmal 112 yards on 56 plays... 2 yards per play.

Pitt State comes to town next week for homecoming in a battle of 0-4 teams.
Well luckily for you if you score via pick sixes Pitt is your dream matchup.

This game should be dubbed the Misery Bowl based on how miserable everyone associated with these teams seems to be right now.

Pitt State 34, UNK 27 (OT)

The offense finally showed some life while the defense melted down after halftime again. Go figure.

How long before your DC get canned? 2 epic 2nd half meltdowns back to back.

It’s interesting - Schaffner has built some crazy good defenses over the years at butler and then he was part of a staff at ISU that struggled majorly. His first year at Kearney in 2023 was a dumpster fire. 2024-2025 - I would’ve told you that the defense wasn’t necessarily the problem.

He definitely hasn’t captured the elite defense level he had at Butler. Could be the fact Butler was just getting the better athletes back in those days and drove his success.

It's been a bad couple of halves but he's no where near the hot seat at this point. The offense has been the problem much more frequently than the defense in Held's tenure.

I think UNKs defensive weakness or depth issue is against the passing game.

If you go back and look ever since the last game of last year when UCM just tore them apart they haven't been the same unit. It is like the league has figured them out. They have good players up front but no dudes. Their TFL's , sacks and turnovers forced are all way down this season. They have scored two defensive td's but that is it. Last two games in the second half they weren't even close to forcing a punt. Its been brutal.

                            MoWest 31, UNK 21

Honestly, this game started out exactly as I figured it might, with the Griffons rolling to a 31-7 lead in the third quarter. But credit to the Lopers for battling back and making MoWest sweat it out until late. Although, it did seem like MoWest took their foot off the gas a bit instead of burying the Lopers.

Since Tyler Harris took full control of the play calling duties a couple games ago, the offense seems to have at least shown some signs of life. They even left some points out there with an interception in the end zone and two missed field goals - one that was longer than it should have been after a stupid personal foul and another that was blocked.

True freshmen were standouts for UNK, with Calin Arndt rushing for 139 yards and a TD and Canon Allen catching five passes for 105 yards. However, it was reported that Allen had his arm in a sling after the game, because that's just what happens to UNK this year I guess.
