Tascosa Played Haltom in Lubbock two years ago in the quarterfinals. Those kids from Ft. Worth wanted nothing to do with the cold and it was above freezing then with a little bit of snow.
Can't remember the year but Pampa played Grapevine at kimbrough stadium in the state semifinals. The grapevine kids were griping to the paper that they shouldnt have to play a game in the arctic circle. :D

I wish NM had the foresight texas uil has and realize that there is a monumental difference between 1A-3A schools and the biggest classes.
In NM right now Basketball will start jan 4th and run into the first couple weeks in March. Football can begin practices Feb 22nd, with the first games able to be held march 4th with the sixman state championship may 1st.
Basically us small schools are going to have to manage our limited numbers of kids playing in the state tournament in basketball and the first 2 games of the modified football season.I have fat thumbs sorry for typos!

Problem with that "logic" (UIL, not you personally) is that Dallas and Houston has several teams in 4A within city limits.
It would have been better to the unconventional here and just flip the sports seasons. I know several kids in our area who were playing summer travel league baseball and softball and they would have been ready to go on the drop of a hat.
